In his first 20 fights Duran fought Carlos Mendoza who was good enough to fight for a world title and Ernesto Marcel who was good enough to win one. If we take it to 30 we have Hiroshi Kobayashi who had just lost his world title and his title win over ken Buchanan. So the idea that Duran laze about Panama feasting on bums isn't founded by facts.

 

Leonard beats Floyd at his own game, Ray wins nearly every round. Floyd shocked the world by being more boastful to media before the fight than Leonard, Hagler is stunned. Leonard almost knocks Floyd out, in the late rounds Floyd runs hard after being hurt on a couple of occasions, he just couldn't cope with Leonard in this fight and the entire boxing world celebrates the shutting of Floyds mouth, at least for a while anyway.

 

Never been in trouble but never fought a real decent opponent, no fighter has had it softer than Floyd, he certainly isn't even near Duran's league, when I say real opponent I mean someone who is top notch, could compete with many ATG's and is a natural welterweight, Floyd has no one like that on his resume. Duran is an ATG......... Yes Floyd has names there in Mosley and ODLH and Marquez but as a previous poster explains to you they are all washed up and does ODLH ever beat a Leonard or a Duran ???? doubt it very much same goes for Mosley but Mosley has better chance there than ODLH (this is when they are in prime mind you. Maybe Duran doesn't stop Floyd but he dominates and wins big anyway.

Floyd had the opportunity to fight prime Pac and failed. Leonard will always be considered the greater fighter.

Wow all you want. You're talking about a man who lost to Kirkland Laing and Robbie Sims, completely outclassed by Benitez and destroyed by Hearns in 2. Wasn't very psychologically strong during that stretch of his career and his character flaws apparently affected his performance in the ring.

 

Debatable it wasn't PBF who ran away from talks to fight Clottey over testing. Even Roach admitted years later that it was mostly their fault because they didn't want to do testing the first time. Funny how people like you love to act like that never happened and put all the blame on PBF.

 

Not PBF's fault. What prime ATG was in his weight class while he was there? The only one was Pac and he didn't want the fight due to testing. Lastly Duran lost to lesser fighters than PBF. He's an ATG but the guy isn't God he did have flaws.

 

If Floyd did not fought Prime Pac, that his problem.

It shows up in his legacy. He won't be considered a TOP 20 ATG, too much cherrypicking.

 

If Pac didn't fight a prime PBF then that's his problem he pulled out of the first fight because of testing only to agree years later not PBF remember that.
That's your opinion if PBF finishes 50-0 he will be a top 20 ATG. He was clearly the best fighter of this era and a H2H nightmare to boot. His longevity being on top of the sport for so long is also a testament to his greatness.

 

Duran fought about 830 rounds as a professional fight PBF is currently in the 300's. No way did PBF fight anywhere near the same number of rounds. Beside Johnson, Duran is the only fighter to fight in 5 decades. 1960's - 2000. What's also unfair is to compare an active fighter who is 38 against a retired fighter who fought til he was close to 50.
