I seen him get shook and rocked by 2 many and Bent was a pretty bad fight...Tommy had a middleweight chin, he had a good left hook but its a funny thought, you can build up the body but a sub- middleweight chin is a sub-middleweight chin and for this there is no cure

It is funny how fighters always remember the hardest hitters being the ones they beat....You would think Mercer would have said Wlad with that rocket of a hook he was hit and dropped with.

Lost my mind laughing when I read this in a packed computer lab at my University just now. People are probably thinking I'm weird or something.

actually he's chin could of been worse. He's fought with a broken jaw not to mention dealth with some of biggest hitters back then.

From what i remember i believe it was Emanuel Steward and Bert Sugar sitting next to him they were smirking and did their best to bite there tounge... I know they wanted to tell him how fool of **** he was, im sure they also felt that he was kind of disrespectful... I saw this on ESPN Classic he just came out of nowhere with that comment.:verysad

I remember this. I don't remember him saying he'd knock Marciano out exactly, but I remember him, doing what he normally does, talking out of his ass in a matter-of-fact way. He says the most ridiculous thing as if he were stating "Well, one plus one is two...Bop, bop, bop, I clearly don't have HIV." I can only remember him being looked at incredulously while stating his doubt that Marciano could hang with him given he was 6'2, 225 pounds or whatever.:lol::lol:

It's a good thing they weren't talking Dempsey. Bert Sugar would've lit his cigar and tried to burn Tommy's eyes out with it. :scaredas:

Didn't Tyson say Ruddock was the hardest hitter he faced?

Tommy Morrison was no great fighter, but he could certainly hit. I have no reason to doubt Mercer.

Why are people surprised by what Mercer said?? - I think Morrison was a real good fighter on his day - and definately an ATG puncher - one of the most exciting fighters to watch ever too - I put Morrison pure power leagues ahead of say Lennox and Holy and maybe would've put him on a par with Tyson - nobody gives modern contenders like him enough respect - he may have not been the greatest of all time or anything but he was a very very good exciting crowd pleasing KO artist - I loved watching him - the Morrison-Ruddock fight is one of my favourite to watch ever - there can be no doubts whatsoever about his punching power - I don't get it?? Has nobody ever seen any of his KO highlights??

For all the talk of Tommy's power, ironically, it was his strategic sense...his common sense, ringwise that contributed to his finest victory...over George Foreman.

I like big George, but just the same, he would have been extremely complimentary of tommy's power had he been able to catch and ko him. Just the fact that Tommy fought a strategic, tactical sort of fight vs Foreman, that his power wasn't showcased may have been a reason, but i think that if George had wobbled and ko'ed Morrison like he did foreman, he would have lauded Tommy's power like he did Cooney's. Morrison just pissed off George by the way that he outsmarted him and won in that fight...the way I bet Moorer wished that he had fought.
