I think it would have been Duran vs Hearns all over again, I love Duran and there not many fighters that I dont give him a fairly good chance against..Especially against ATG's, But I just think SRR would have just been to much for him with his power, his relentlessness, and when he did get Roberto in trouble, one of the best finishers in WW history. And Im a Huge Duran fan..Always have been!

I can understand the sentiment in this statement..but I think it ignores that fact that not many people would have beat Leonard that night. If that wasn't Leonard or someone of his ilk that fight would have ended in the 3rd or 4th round when Duran was pinning Leonard against the ropes. I take Robinson on points and a KO is not off the table. Duran is a defensive wizard but there is nothing like Robinson at his welterweight prime. Duran would get inside and would do work but Robinson was great a tying up bigger fighter who bulled inside. If Duran chose to box he would be out boxed and I don't say that flippantly. Robinson was faster on foot and hand and near equal in strategy. Duran would have to mix it up and try to keep Robinson off balance with angles and rushes. The problem is Duran cannot take too many of Robinson's left hooks which has always been a problem for Roberto. If he catches any of those to much he may go early. Robinson on points.
I think SRL had faster hands than SRR... So I'm just not seeing Robinson landing whatever he wants on Duran... I think SRR is going to miss a lot.. just like SRL did. I think this would be a very good fight and probably one of SRR toughest fights of his career.. he wins a UD though
