I can see the case for Ruddock landing that horrible smash left and Norton’s chin collapsing. And this certainly COULD happen. But Ruddock was not a two fisted slugger like George Foreman. And Shavers hammered Ken when he was past it. It should also be noted that Norton didn’t just fold with a single shot. You really had to be hammering the crap out of him. Norton was a skilled boxer with a decent punch, great stamina and awesome conditioning. I think he could possibly give Ruddock a go for his money and MAYBE even win it
Ruddock cannot KO young prime boxer. only overweight old or drug addict men. look at the record. with Norton 1979 _ 81 era . Ruddock KO wins with Norton 1973 prime. Norton KO wins
Absolutely none Ruddock doesn't have a right hand, that was Holmes's kryptonite not the left. With Norton's cross arm style he can be vulnerable to Ruddock's best punch.
Ken Norton wildly underrated these days from Youtubers who have just watched the Shavers and Foreman fights on a loop. Norton finishes Ruddock. Probably drops Razor a couple times with his jab alone. Norton didn't mess around when he thought a guy had a weak chin. It would be a slightly longer, drawn out Lewis-Ruddock-style drubbing.
Even an old Holmes could see every left hook Razor threw before it landed ... and Larry couldn't miss Razor with the jab. This content is protected
Ruddock didn't have a weak chin though, he was pretty durable in his prime. Some might say he was never quite the same after the two brutal wars with Tyson. I agree with the notion that some people do underestimate Norton vs every hard hitter, but Ruddock would be a dangerous opponent for Norton. Especially since Ruddock's "Smash" is perfect to get under Norton's cross arm defence.
Ruddock was a one Punch KO artist but was actually pretty tame in-between his KO attempts and veeeery one dimensional in his attack. Kenny survives some shaky moments and outboxes Ruddock over the distance.
How good was Kenny, really? Conventional wisdom says that he had a stylistic advantage over both Holmes and Ali, and yet he only managed a 1-3 record against those guys. With mostly thin margins of victory, an increasingly aging Ali each time out, and injuries helping Norton out in Ali I and Holmes I.
Take away one win over an out of shape Ali and one might be one against a shot Ali and he’s a forgotten footnote. He is nothing but a figure to make the 70s look better then they were. Foreman too, It all centres around Ali selling himself to folks.”If X beat Ali then he must be great, If Ali thought X was good… If he made Ali struggle” and so Ali has only losses to ATGs.
