The Drug Baron appears to be in boxing as a fan/hobby with the objectives of cleansing his reputation and laundering money. The quote of the night was Frankie Warden who claimed to have no idea about the activities of DK.
Interesting doc. Didn’t really go in to much that we didn’t already know, but given how the boxing authorities continue to ignore and turn a blind eye to his activities, I think it’s important to get this out to a mainstream audience. Unfortunately, much like all types of corruption in boxing over the decades, those with the power to make a stand against this sort of activity (boards, broadcasters, promoters) ultimately benefit from it, so there’s no incentive for them to act.
Andy Gray and Richard Keys were sacked for making fun of a female assistant referee and rightly so. Matt Macklin allowed to commentate on Sky Sports - surely they get someone else in now to read Adam's script on air.
You really have it in for poor Matt Jurgen! He not the worst you know in fairness. Reasonably good commentator too... Now if you were to say “Adam smith must go”.... now that a different story.....WE wudden miss Adam at all.... not one bit...
Just think given Sly Sports stance on all things PC these days, his position must be under review this morning mate. We have women's sport including boxing and football rammed right up us along with Black Knives Matter. Anyone associated with a drugs cartel surely cannot survive at Sky.
Yes but this has been gone into to the nth degree by Interpol and countries all over Europe and nothing sticks. Operation Shovel lasted 10 years and cost millions and countless man hours...and they couldn't come up with enough to give DK a parking ticket. If they sack Macklin on that basis he'll take em to the cleaners in court. Isn't his sister a lawyer? This is different to the recent PC waffle, and BLM stuff. This is criminal law and employment law. Well established law protects Macklin in this situation. Sky will know that. You can't sack someone from their job because they're "associated" with a man who has zero criminal convictions. And that's the way it should be too. Can you imagine the abuses of people that would occur if that kind of thing was allowed? We'd all be screwed. Not to say they might not refuse to renew his contract when it runs it's course, but they can't blatantly sack him.
Govt cannot turn a blind eye after that programme seen by all on BBC1 - surely more regulation coming soon for all involved whether one is a promoter, manager, trainer or advisor.
Nothing boxing heads don't know already, I suppose with this it gets out to the masses. TBH i dont give a toss what the casuals think they have no idea about the sport, want to talk like experts when a mainstream boxing bout is on. etc. F em. You know what boxing is boxing, its a dirty busines bla bla bla, this has been going on for centuries. Guess what it won't change, unless we want to see boxing a wash with these youtube pricks?! Listen im not condoning crime but it is what it is, Don King, Bob Arum... plus all the underworld bosses you dont even see. I dont suppose they are whiter than snow. What do people expect? There is no overall governing body, no real rules so of course, it will attract all sorts. But you know what for years boxers have been getting their pants pulled down by scumbag managers and promoters at least with MTK they earn a decent crust with low management fees. Unfortunately, we don't quite know the real cost or consequences until this thing gets blown up. What will the association with MTK do for boxers in the long term?
The real cost is the thousands and thousands of lives ruined by drug cartels/dealers with the tragic recent death of boxing's Nicky Booth a good recent example. That programme last night will attract govt attention and hopefully result in regulation that includes a professional governing body to replace the amateur blind eye approach at present in the UK.
