Into the final round now. Been a feisty, messy scrap.

 

Magomed Zaipulaevich Kurbanov vs. Baxit Abdurasulovich Abduraximov, 6 rounds @ super bantamweight

 

I've been deeply unimpressed with Kurbanov's performances in the recent past. (Note: he isn't to be confused with the other Magomed Kurbanov, who campaigns at 154lbs and is also unbeaten yet also has looked very underwhelming. @Mastrangelo called the larger fighter, Magomed Ramazanovich "The Black Lion" Kurbanov, a 'poor man's Glen Tapia' (during his 10-round unanimous decision victory over Chicken Man Bonelli on another RCC bill eleven months ago), which is spot on. But it should be stressed that he's much duller to watch than such a comparison makes him sound. )

This one looked especially crappy on their September card, laboring to a MD over Sardor Muzzafarov that was probably a robbery.

 

UD for Kurbanov.

 

Dmitry Yun vs. Artem Ayvazidi, 6 rounds @ light welterweight

 

Yun - who bears a more than passing resemblance to another Central Asian boxer named Dmitry (that is, Bivol) - is a fluid mover and damn sharp body puncher, technique-wise...but might just naturally be a bit of a feather-fist. This is his third pro bout and he's looking to net his first stoppage. His opponent is a tough Ukrainian veteran, 38 years old but only stopped 4 times in 29 bouts (and not since Khuseyn Baysangurov almost three years ago).

 

Yun fully in control, outscoring Ayvazidi by a wide margin, but Ayvazidi just walks through everything he throws, even when he's sitting down on his shots.

 

The comments section has two running threads of conversation:

1) Uzbek fans eviscerating Yun in their language for his lack of power, which is a little unfair as he's really a skilled boxer and trying his best in there and 2) loads of thirsty dudes from ex-Soviet nations all losing their minds over this one female named Anyut, begging her to come to Russia/Kazakhstan/Ukraine so they can pay her for sex.

 

Yep, shame because Yun is capable of doing some pretty work. Just - not any oomph behind it.
