I'm pretty sure it was PPV and they would have made nice money? Anyone will fight anyone if the money is good enough.
In recent years the most high profile one to have been ruined because of excessive marinading was JuanMa Lopez v Yuriorkis Gamboa. With regards to BJS v Eubanks JnrĀ I think it'll always be there, but Billy's world title shot may not be. I think promotionally/financially the title makes more sense at the moment for Bill while Eubanks goes in with Blackwell, Ryder and/or O Sullivan.
the rematch between the 2 will be even bigger thanks to that fight. in the long run, it enhanced their careers.
I agree, its rare that you have 2 fighters who were so confident in there ability they were willing to risk there '0' early on in there career. That said they both must have gotten a good purse for a British title fight.
Didnt Billy Nelson come on here the other week saying Fielding is better then Groves and Degale and will go further then both LOL
degale v groves was the highest ever purse for a british title fight, im sure they split nearly 250k 60/40. and ryder v saunders split 109k 60/40
Thats interesting. I think the whole build up to Groves and DeGale was entertaining and captured the public. The fight seemed so big that it didnt feel like a British/Commonwealth title fight between 2 fighters who hadnt even had 25 fights between them
