Tito could be outboxed and it proves he didn't have plan B except for attacking your balls. Oscar and Winky made him look stupid.

He was never more than a very powerful boxer puncher for his size.

First off, I will start by saying that I am a Boricua but I agree totally. Tito is a guy who literally squandered what were his best years, wasting years after every single loss in pointless "retirements" and long delays for returning to the ring. Furthermore, Trinidad also made horrendous career match-making choices, insisting on fighting in weights in which his effectiveness was obviously greatly reduced. I think, his career is partial and his legacy incomplete. There was so much more that he could have proven, so many potential superfights that were lost in Tito's vacillation and dilly-dallying. Not only should he still be fighting, possibly now closing out a triumphant career by now, but these are fights that Trinidad should have had by now: Tito-DLH II, Tito-Mosely, Tito-Cotto.

Sadly, Trinidad is a guy who leaves behind a good career when he could have and should have had a great career.

    Co-signed.

I never understood why he took the RJJ fight at 170 and insisted that any future fights would have to be at 170 or the super middleweight division.

If Tito were to come back he needs to fight at 160. Anything above he is ineffective. Now is it becasue he really cant make the weight or because he is lazy?

    Bit of both Id say.

He aint a serious boxer anymore...He came back for a little more cash and now can continue to live it up on his island home.

The only fighter of note he beat after his hand-wrapping was 'discovered' was Mayorga, who was quite limited skillwise.

And Mayorga was mauling him for the first two minutes until he gave him those wide open free shots.

If Mayorga had NOT been so stupid, he might very well have beaten him.

That fight aside, Tito did nothing of note after he had his handwrapping scrutinized more closely.

Why are people making it seem that Tito losing to Hopkins was a bad thing for him and being overrated suddenly because of that. Remember from the delay of the fight, to him being a welterweight in his career, fighting at 160 with one of the best of all times, being the smaller guy. Trinidad had everything to lose and Hopkins everything to gain in his career with this fight. You think Trinidad needed to fight Hopkins? Give him props for taking all these risk and almost finishing the 12 rounds, he show heart and courage and thats an ATG. People like to mention tactics, but lets talk about Hopkins tactics through his career.:good Stop the hating and speak with the mind.

My favourite fighter ever and one of the reasons I became a hardcore fight fan.

You knew what you were going to get every time - a superbly conditioned, murderous puncher who would go for the ko from the first bell to the last.

He was the best finisher since Ray Leonard, hugely charismatic and was afraid of no-one.

    I loved him.

He was a great fighter, the handwrap incident is not enough to tarnish his career like some are trying to imply, especially when you investigate what Tito was actually doing wrong. He never ducked anyone, always came to fight, he was interested in always fighting the best and he was a damn good fighter too. And although I too hate the fact that he always retired when he lost let me clarify that he never retired because he lost, the first time he retired it was because he wanted to get a rematch with Hopkins but was unable to get it so he decided there was nothing more he wanted to do in the boxing ring, after the winky fight it was his dad that retired because he felt he didn't have it anymore in him and so Trinidad left with him because he did not want to be trained by anyone else, and after Jones he never officially retired he just never found the big enough money fight he wanted. It's not like he left all pissed off or crying because he lost and never wanted anything to do with the sport.

I just can't believe some morons still talking about loaded gloves. The most they were able to say about Tito's handwraps was that they looked suspicious and they made him do it again.
But anyways, Tito was great @147lbs and 154lbs, regardless of anyone's opinion about his fight with DLH. He finished himself off when he decided to fight at weights where he didn't belong. Tito depended on his power to win. He wasn't a great technician. But the big guys were able to handle Tito's punches and hit back. Plus, the extra weight made Tito real slow.

Thank you, well said. If you paid to watch a fight with Tito in it, you would most likely get your monies worth. And to all the haters stop the BS about the handwraps, even Foreman said that the extra gauze would benefit the opponent not his power.
