Hopkins winning the world title at 48 got me thinking about how long Froch could carry on for. He's 36 in July but he's looking better than he ever has done so could he continue on until he's 40? I aren't suggesting he goes on until he's 48 but if he keeps himself in shape like he has been doing 2 fights a year for the next 4 years should be doable.
another 2 years at the top id say it was mentioned in the bute fight that he had changed his training to help keep his leg strength up without putting as much strain on them Hes always bang in shape so no weight gain drama to worry about and hes modified his style so isnt taking massive punches every fight...still plenty left in the tank and the loss of a bit of speed shouldnt hurt him too much
Another 2-3 years. To fight for longer periods of time at the lower weight division, you need innate athletic ability speed, and immense co-ordination. Even though Bernard Hopkins does not have the athletic ability of Roy Jones, he WAS above average in the speed, co-ordination, and agility department. Carl Froch is not! But fairplay to Carl Froch numbers don't lie, and he states that he has been breaking records in training. Like a body builder records everything done in training, and intake in nutrition. Carl Froch's little black book, that he has recorded every rep, recovery time, and performance in training for the past 10 years! does not lie. Running, Callisthenics, Recovery and performance: Carl Froch is breaking records.
Same goes for Kessler, who is also a warrior. Two warriors in the ring together believe me this will be a war between WARRIORS.
I'd like to see him beat Kessler then fight Hopkins n pascal n maybe have big domestic clashes with Groves/Degale/Cleverly. No interest in a Ward rematch or a Bute one.
I think its a good point Froch like hopkins have lead a clean life style, but i think over the years Froch has shipped alot more damage as in blocking punch's with his face.. I would say Froch has two years left its a totally diferent style to hopkins.. Its like Mayweather he probably could go on and do a Hopkins but not Froch..
Dont think hell carry on too long now.Reckon hell beat Kessler by the same margin as Kessler beat him.Very narrow.Would hope hell then defend against Stevenson,in Nottingham,as if he doesn't they could, rightly or wrongly, accuse him of ducking him.A good win here cements a great career, then retire at the right time like Joe Calzaghe.Avoid Ward, retire this year.
If he beats Kessler he will face, Ward or Hopkins or Degale or Groves! Maybe even Hopkins at 175: even though Hopkins said he could make 168, which i think is a ******ed move by him.
Every fighter slows down in their mid-late thirties. Just some fighters have the right type of styles to deal with age. I'm not sure Carl's got that sort of style. I honestly believe he's got 18 months/3 fights left of being at the level he's at now. After that I think he'll begin to noticeably decline. Just my personal opinion though, hopefully I'm wrong and he has a lot more left in the tank.
