Realistically what's left for Cotto to prove ????

I mean the guy is a 2 weight world champion 3 time world champion , he has all but quashed a re match with Margarito , as fan's who do we want to see him fight ????

Im not saying he should bow out , there is a few million dollars left for Cotto to go and earn and who is anybody to say that Cotto shouldnt be fighting for pay days , the guys World Class !!!!!!!

But really he's fought the who's who @147 , Margarito apart who's left , maybe an alphabet title @154 to further the legacy i dont know , but right now whats left for Cotto ???????

 

Really it all depends what type of legacy he wants to leave. Yes from a success-perspective he has achieved enough. But if he wants to be mentioned with the ATG's then I would think he would have to beat Margarito and win some more major fights against some big names.

 

Cotto is not even halfway to Tito's accomplishments

If he wants to get close to Tito or ATG, he needs to do more, maybe get a belt at 154 defend it a few times and get a few more high quality wins

Id like to see the Marg re match at some point , couple of easy ones then maybe a world title @154 , then call it a day , im done with seeing Cotto in wars i love the guy i dont know how many times i can watch him in these wars !!!!!!!

 

There have been rumours of Cotto/Foreman at 154. I doubt if 154 would suit Cotto well, but Foreman is the type of fighter who presents little danger, and Cotto can probably hunt him down and put a beating on him.

 

Foreman presents very little danger to natural 154 pound fighters. I would favor Foreman at 154...Cotto would be eating straight right hands all night long while trying to cut off the ring unsuccessfully.

I think he's already a borderline HOF (lesser have been inducted but it's not a guarantee) and as much as I like him, I don't think he has much more in him. This guy has taken an awful lot of damage. He's great for his time, maybe not an all-time great as in on a short list though. Probably not, IMO. If he did come back and win a major world title at ww or lmw, that would impress the hell out of me but he's impressed me with his willingness to take them all on his whole career anyway.

 

Honestly I would love to see Cotto retire...he has nothing left to prove in the sport of boxing. I think he is no longer the same fighter he was before the margarito beating. That seemed to take everything out of the man. He is still a very tough opponent for anyone at 147 and below, but his time has come and gone.

 

I've honestly never been impressed with Foreman. I've seen him many times, and do not rate him highly. I expected Santos to put a good beating on him, but Daniel looked like he just showed up for the snacks.

Taking that into consideration, speed still kills in the sport of boxing. Cotto would never be able to catch him...

btw, i can't stand fighters like Yuri Foreman...almost looks like he has no desire to fight.

I guess it depends who you are having it with. Im not saying he isnt, but Im not saying he is. He is definitely on the borderline of HOF. I think 1 more big win against someone on the same level as Mosley or even him beating Margo would be enough to seal his deal as a HOF'er. But as someone said above he is no where close to Tito, and personally I dont consider Tito an ATG but definitely a HOF'er
