Reasons why Fighting SPADAFORA actually makes SENSE...!

First of all I expected Mayweather to pick a better opponent and am still hoping he chooses to fight someone else instead, but lets look at this in terms of Mayweather's point of view and it actually starts making sense.

*Reason 1 - Ethnicity! When's the last time Floyd fought a white american fighter? His last few fights have been against blacks and latinos, the closest was hatton but he is british and a brawler. Now i know this may not be important but since hopkins was talking of pacquiao not fighting african americans the same could be said with floyd with white americans. So if he has another white american on his record after beating everyone he has, it will look good and silence any ethnical doubters.

*Reason 2 - Southpaw! I believe this will be a tuneup fight for Manny Pacquiao for late 2011. There is no better way to prepare against manny than fighting a southpaw which spadafora is. Therefore eventhough at the moment it seems like this fight maybe a waste of time, in a few years time it would have made sense as a tune up fight for manny seeing as Paul is a southpaw.

*Reason 3 - Money! Spadafora infact is not a big name, and just recently hit rock bottom, what he wants now is one BIG chance because he needs a big payday and more importantly not just to prove the world he's the best but to prove to the world he is still relevant in hope to secure more big fights. Therefore his purse for the mayweather fight maybe very small but in terms of what Paul needs it would be very big, which also means that floyd will be making ALOT of money fighting him, which in actuality benefits all parties involved.

Reason 4 - LEGACY! I believe this is the most important reason. Mainly because it will help floyds legacy in 15 maybe even 20 years down the line. Now we know Spadafora is an unbeaten fighter and in the future if we see after a years lay off floyd came and defeated a fighter who nobody else could beat and had a brilliant amatuer record, it would make floyds resume so much better. Now some may say that spadafora has fought noone and is a bum, but you have to realise that in 20 odd so years time that information would probabably be pointless because after this fight with floyd he will be fighting more top names making his resume even better and could also retire as a really good welterweight of this era. Now that would make his legacy greater and not only because of that, but because of when you compare it to what Pacquiao was doing at the same time, which was fight a nearly 40 year old mosley after mayweather embarressed him a year earlier. So it seems like floyd has the upperhand in that situation.

Reason 5 - Perfect Timing ! Say Pacquiao knocks out mosley which he should do, and mayweather defeats an unbeaten southpaw a few months later. This would make floyd p4p better than pacquiao, and also make floyd the real cashcow, therefore in negotiations of any fight floyd will have the bigger say for e.g. enter 2nd in the ring against pacquiao which physiologically will be very beneficial.

Now having said all of that, I wouldnt really mind seeing Floyd fight Paul, because atleast we get to see Mayweather back in the ring and because it will lead to the fight we are all looking for, which is Mayweather vs Pacquiao.

What are y'all thoughts on this?:think

I'd rather see him fight Berto, who's also undefeated and actually has the speed to give Floyd something new to deal with, and possibly prepare him for Pac's speed. He's not a southpaw though.

The Spadafora fight doesn't make much sense because what kind of challenge would he give Floyd now? He's also slow and fighting him doesn't do much for Floyd in terms of helping him deal with the explosiveness of Pac.

My thoughts are tha Mayweather could break into your house and **** on your pillow and you'd still defend him.

The guy is one of the best fighters of his generation, a naturally gifted fighter - and he's fighting a guy who has not beat a top ten ranked contender for nearly ten years. The fight is shambolic and no amount of desperate fanboyism can justify it.

I sincerely hope that this fight does not come off, it is a bad joke. Worse than the Matt Hatton rumours last year. I really can't think of such a mismatch and obvious gulf in class betweeb to fighters in any fight in recent memory, or a less deserving challenger than Spadafora.

Im not really defending him, but if you understand everything there, you would kind of realise why it makes sense.
But ive stated before, i dont want to see this fight, i'd prefer him to fighting another southpaw but if the fights on we have to deal with it, just like we dealt with the mosley pacquiao fight.

All i know is, Floyd is ducking "Magic" Matthew Hatton. Understandable since he went thr distance with Alvarez.
