Do any of the following divisions currently have linear champions, in your view?

    Cruiserweight
    Light Heavyweight
    Middleweight
    Light Welterweight

The winner of Mayweather-Mosley has the most claim to that title, Mayweather defeated Judah and Baldomir to gain the Linear title, after he retired it was vacated but the 'man' in the division was Cotto, so when Cotto lost to Margarito he became the 'man' and when Margarito lost to Mosley he became the 'man'. But considering none of these guys unified the belts, and Margarito had lost to Paul Williams, Mayweather can still be considered the 'lineal' champion even without a belt or at the very least, the 'man'.

Problem is that complete discounts Williams win over Margarito, so possibly he should have been rated the number 1 guy after Margarito smashed Cotto.

Mayweather was the champ but the lineage was broken when he "retired".

When Mosley and Marg fought, they weren't #1 and #2 in the division, so that fight couldn't create a new champ. Shane is the top welter at the moment but he isn't the linear champion.

    "Officially" eh?

If he beats Clottey and the winner of Floyd-Shane, there won't be any doubt he is. Right now I'd say Shane is #1. Stack his wins at 147 up against Pac's - there's no justification to place Pac higher.

In the past five years, Mosley's wins at WW consist of Luis Collazo and Antonio Margarito. And a loss to Cotto.

Why should his wins from more than 5 years ago be discounted?

Even if you do, who is the #1 Welterweight right now if it's not Mosley?

One can't be the Champion when he doesn't fight, especially when the division heats up like it did just before Floyd retired. SSM is champ. Manny also has the other worthy belt.
    Floyd has none.
