    Absolutely.

Unfortunately, because of this fascination with records as opposed to watching how a fighter performs against great fighters, in hostile environments.

A fighter that was much better than his record of recent times was Emmanuel Augustus - would take on anyone, put on a show for the fans, lost rounds through showboating or joking around in the ring, but was a very capable fighter that could trouble and even beat much better fighters if he really applied himself.

I remember being dropped from uppercuts to the solar plexus, limping into school after evening training at Muay Thai, seeing stars for a couple of days - EVERYONE that started young took a beating - even if you haven't lost professionally, you've definitely lost in sparring - these things grow you, if you've got ability and hunger.

yeah, modern marketing value. 0 matters a lot and so on.

    Yeah.
It depends who you do have to spar with, how you spar etc variables. Pro boxing now is obsessed with 0 lost fights in pro record.
    Yeah, market requires this.

This is serious thing even for amateur and regardless, fight had been won or lost. Some guys had retired after fights they had won on points. Fights where they were not down even once.
