Going into the 10th, Watson was the betting favourite. Shows how well he came back into it when most had Rees sweeping the first 6 rounds! If Watson starts faster this time around, and I think he will, then he has a great chance.
If Watson didn't get stopped in the first fight, i think he would win this. He figured Rees out and was dominating parts of the second half of the fight, even close to stopping Rees with body shots at one point. The way he was stopped was worrying though.
.....When was this exactly made cos this seems rather soon to throw a fight like this toghether. If i remember correctly John started really slow and was getting outboxed and outclassed early on due to maybe a lack of belief or Rees just being sharp or bit of both. Once Watson settled he really went to task and had Rees going. Topsy turvy fight and one i'd like to see again. I wouldn't count Watson out....it depends a lot on his confidence if he's short then he's really in trouble but i'd love to see him start faster....because he really gained control in later part of fight.
Strange fight choice for Rees. He has nothing to gain and all to lose in this rematch. Last fight was a corker mind you.
I wouldve like to see Rees get a bigger fight, Kevin Mitchell would be a great. if Rees doesnt rush the fight like he did last time he'll win a UD.
i think Cook will be on the bill as i've just found out the show is at Bridgend Rec. been to a few shows down there before to watch Cook, cracking nights. 4 weeks does seem abit soon to me, is that why you think it won't happen Grant1? any news who's on the undercard? Ps would love to see Rees fight Kevin Mitchell, but with different promoters maybe complicated, can't see it myself.
Bad for Rees. He's screwed. He looked like he was going to get stopped in the second half of the fight. I thought he was lucky to make it out of that fight. I think he's going to lose this time, for sure. Watson will know what to do.
gavin rees is another british fighter on borrowed time, whenever they step up the competition for him, he gets himself ****ed, its seriously shameful for a man calling himself a former world champ to get himself in a life and death struggle against a novice, he'll get destroyed by the likes of mitchell and murray, if i was amir khan i'd seriously ditch that WBA belt of his because i'd feel ashamed that a welsh smurf who clearly was out of his depth managed to get his hands on it.
It will be a good rematch, Watson for me, he was unlucky last time out. He'll learn from his mistakes and fight from the off. Rees may have been WBA but in the second half he looked beat. Rees wont have it all his way. hard fight but british glory for Watson.
Was just thinking with the short notice for this fight and Rees not the best with maintaining his weight will he have to drop a fair bit to get down to the limit in time and how will that affect his performance his time round?
people think watson failed to fight for the first 7 rounds, but he actualy wasent allowed to by rees, who could read his moves, this time rees will stop him about halfway.:think:good
watson was stopped prematurely, his legs were stiff in the 11th. rees never landed a shot to make ref step in.I think rees never wanted this rematch as he got hurt. If watson gets him again in the early rounds he wont let him go.
