    Thank You.

People were straying away from the question. Fix or not, how is it possible that the fight was even allowed to happen. Its so open and blatant that a powerful promoter can just arrange any fight he wants no matter rankings or other influences. We all know that corruption, backhanders and so on have been a part of boxing forever but has everyone just accepted it so much that there isnt even any uproar anymore when something like this happens.

Did you ever see Robin Reid against Sven Ottke?

The ref actually did not count a knockdown for Reid and in the same round deducted a point from him for nothing. At one point in this farce the Ref (was it Tillerman?) warned him for hitting Ottke.
Did you think that fight was a fix?

Rees won fair and square. He was ranked number 11 by the WBA. What I cannot get over is how quickly a champ gets the belt back after they have been exposed. Sturm, Klitschko etc.

Rocky was a complete no hoper when he fought Apollo Creed, but he won the rematch and did well in the first fight, was that a farce?

Saying Rees didn't deserve this fight is a massive under statement, he had done NOTHING to get that fight - oh, apart from being a FW fighter. The WBA are losing credibility at a startling rate and as for giving Rees credit, for what? Being better than the worst champion ever, in a fight he should never have got.

What had Hamed done at Featherweight to earn a shot at Steve Robinson?

What had Baldomir done to get his title chance, and even worse after losing at 147lbs he gets a chance at the 154lbs vacant WBC belt!?

Why has the WBA got three champs at Cruiserweight?

    Whats this WBC Emmeritus business?

Should Howard Clarke have challenged Fernando Vargas with 10 losses on his record?

Boxing is not an exact science, its a mix of science and art. :blurp

I hope it's a big fight for Rees so he makes a lot of money, it would be amazing if he were to defend it a few times also.

In theory, Rees could drop down to lightweight and fight Khan in a non title affair. There are plenty of options open.

Perhaps Rees will rematch M'Baye, fight Khan or another domestic opponent. Maybe he is forced to fight Kotelnik.
I hope he gets paid well for a defence rather than give up the title.

We could be really under-estimating him after all.

nothing at featherweight, but he had fought several 12 rounders, had been the EBU super-bantamweight champ, and a WBC international super-bantamweight title holder for several fights.

so there is some justification in hamed moving up a division to instantly challenge for a belt.

but rees hadn't fought any 12 rounders in 6 years or so which by itself is enough for him not to be deserving of a title shot. sure, when he did fight his two 12 rounders they were both for WBO inter-continental titles, but that was a long time ago. more recently he has not even been considered as a top domestic operator at lightweight.

    so really, theres no comparison.

but anyway, whats done is done and rees is champion whether or not he deserved the shot. now i'd just like to see him give 100% whoever he fights next. hopefully he won't fall off the wagon, because he's ben giving an opportunity dozens of other british lww's would have jumped at.

    What's the meaning of life?

    Are ghosts real?

If a tree falls in a forest and there's no one there to hear it, does it still make a sound?

    WHAT'S YOUR POINT?

My point is leave Rees alone. He's world champion! If Rees loses his next fight so what, everyone has already written him off.

Least he won't be a big name also ran who fell apart when they got the chance at a title.. care for some names?

How many hyped British fighters have lost at Euro and World level recently? Exposed.

Barry Jones also never got that much credit, but he won the WBO 130lb title and had the guts to fight Freitas, even dropping him.

I can see why people are so bitter towards the Welsh at the moment, with so much success here and so much failure recently in the rest of the UK principality.

Yes he is, WBA. I wonder if he will face Kotelnik the number 1 challenger?

Has Ricky Hatton ever faced a number one challenger?

I don't much care for the form Hatton's career is taking for exactly the point you're making. He would beat seven shades out of the non-champion Rees though, despite what honest Frank says.

since beating tszyu he's been a little busy unifying titles, winning a title at a higher weight, coming back down to re-win titles, vacating titles, and then beating former p4p'r castillo.

i don't think he's ever had a straight defence of one of the 4 major belts yet.

The little guy should be given some credit for winning the WBA World championship, when nearly everyone thought he would be slaughtered.
I hope he wins his next fight now.
