It was ridiculous. But the home town refereeing in this tournament has just been of poor standard. AA was definitely coming on in the latter rounds and you almost can't fault him, he needed to do something, the ref had called a clear as day KD as a slip, broken up the action once, so he had to do something...Dirrell needed to protect himself all times. But overall, it was just a shitty ending to the fight.
Dirrell was totally ineffective. He fought like he was scared shitless which he probably was. Abraham was deperately trying to finish this running coward. Especially because it was apparent that they were trying to steal the fight from him. Abraham is the MAN. Dirrel deserved to get knocked out.
You post awful **** dude, and this is another example. When you've got multiple people in the same thread telling you how awful you are then maybe you should take the hint.
Dirrell was winning the 11th round before that intentional foul by that no skill, one punch looking for BUM Arthur Abraham!!!!!!!
Apart from the Kellerman comment, I agree 100%. My first thought of him was "damn, I've never seen this ref before... and he's in charge of a super-6 fight?".
He didn't miss them, he waived them off. Knockdowns are judgement calls and he made the right decision both times.
I'll stand my ground even if met with an influx of nuthuggers. I can withstand the onslaught of nonsense which occasionally pervades ESB. I should add, janeschicken is a Calzaghe hater who has tried and failed to draw me into an argument in the past. The boy is a clown.
:rofl He must be a really great boxer then, being able to knock down a granite-chinned opponent two times in the same fight, while being totally ineffective.
He made the right call on the DQ, but his hesitation in making the slip/knockdown call due to being out of position is part of what lead to the disqualifying punch in the first place. He needed to make a quicker call there because if Abraham's focusing on Andre's head, he's not going to notice he's down on one knee if the head's at the same level it's been at other points in the fight. There was no ref intervention or call because he was standing in the center of he ring when this happens, and Abraham winds up throwing a shot nearly a second after he should've. Arthur should've known better, but in the heat of battle, it happens sometimes. I don't think he was dirty on purpose there. Fair call on the DQ, unfortunate circumstances. All I have to say is things are going to be nuts if these guys meet in the elimination rounds.
They should just scrap Cole on the list of upcoming super 6 fights. Let him ref in Texas if he wants to. Major televised fights should be off limits for the guy.
Seriously mate you do post awful ****, at least about the Dirrell/Abraham fight. Is Abraham a really powerful puncher with ferocious one-punch KO power? Or is he a feather fisted dude who can't take out a ***** like Dirrell while he was on his knees and defenseless (assuming AD was acting)? Which one is it?
I don't really have an issue with the stoppage. What I have an issue with is what he missed in the fight, breaking up the action (which is a trademark for this guy he does it ALL the time), missed knockdowns, low blows, etc. Laurence Cole has a history of being a corrupt and incompetent referee. People that follow the sport know this. This is not a one time deal the guy has done this MULTIPLE times. The most disgraceful of which was telling a fighter live on TV that the microphones picked up that "he could quit the fight if he wanted to because he was up on the scorecards" because of a cut. This guy should not be anywhere around a professional Boxing ring but because of his father (Dickie Cole) he is allowed to continue to referee fights. It is a farce. Keep this clown in Texas with the other corrupt judges etc.
