Had three guys fighting last night so a busy one, got tapped on the shoulder to ref two MMA fights. Got the nod from the govt rep and been working on getting my refs licence so last night should help.

First fight ended in t/out choke end of the first. Second fight went the distance with a restart and I stood them up after stalling. Was a good stand up and throw fight.

Went well - the fighters and crowd were wrapt with both bouts and the results.

Good for you mate - I've got a lot of time for people who get involved at the grassroots level, whether it be as a fighter, referee or coach.

    Good work brah!

I want to get into it myself... it's weird as 3 of the main UK refs are from my City too!

EDIT: What is you all time favourite restart of all time?

    Lynchburg

You judge fights, train and referee now? damn you keep busy!!!!

Good refereeing (and judging fights for that matter) is a thankless job. But you get to be there for all the action. Im jealous!

:rofl Hadn't really thought about but I always liked Big John and the shoulder but. When he smashed Johnson's nose with it by accident that was funny stuff.

    :yep

Judging / reffing works well whether I have guys on or not. We have a good range of guys and people will step up and help. It can be a hard job - if I had a dollar for every guy who swears it was a robbery and the judges are blind I would be a rich man. (You then have a look at the tape and it's not). But the rewards are great - the people I have met, watched, trained with and socialised with after bouts are pretty much great.

So an amateur event today with fifty one fights on the card - long ****in day. Have them every two months where all the gyms get together for full contact sparring, emphasis on technique. Having a look at the matchups more than a third are kids under 16 and we have eight female fights.
