Regarding weight issues for the De La Hoya vs. Pacquaio fight.

A good example of how weight effects someones legs, look at Morales! He could barely stand up during the fight!

Ask yourself if Pacman would survive against Berto at WW. I think you already know the answer. Forbes might be B level but the guy is super slick and cagey. DLH and Forbes tried their best to KO this guy and couldn't even hurt him.

And how long are you going to ignore the difference in size?

 

What is it with you and thinking that DLH is somehow killing himself to make WW? He's not. 160 was way out of his ideal weight and 154 was a comfortable weight for him but not his ideal weight IMO. His ideal weight is WW. Look at any of his fights at above WW and you will see excess on his body.

 

ODLH and his team are not newbie's and they know what there boxer should weight during fight night!

If anyone of them (pac and odlh) weighs too much and becames sluggish it's their fault!

Roach already said what the ideal fighting weight for pac come fight nite. Should pac be wrong and pac becomes sluggish. No excuses for pac. Same case for DLH. No excuses. Catch weight had been agreed.

It's up to their respective to know what's best for their respective boxers so nothing to worry!

 

oscar will come in at about 157-158 for the fight. if he comes in lower, the more the possibility that he will get hurt by pac's punches. the biggest advantage here of dlh aside from his height and reach is his natural weight advantage.

as a super-welter (154), he typically went into fights at around 162 pounds. he will probably lose some of it due to going down to 147 and probably to gain some speed to somewhat hang w/ pac's speed. that means losing about maybe 5 pounds and that will have him go in with a fighting weight of around 157 for the fight. that will still be about a 7-lb weight advantage vs. pac since pac plans to go into the fight weighing 150.

 

Wow, did you guys know that in his second fight with JMM, Pacman weighed 145 on fight night? And he officially weighed in at 129. That's a 16 lb gain in 32 hours. That's pretty crazy.

Interesting article on the weight issue on ESPN Boxing. Talks about DLH never weighing in on the unofficial HBO scale on fight night. But Roach said DLH weighed 10 lbs over 154 so he was around 164 against PBF. Wonder if he'll weigh about the same.

 

I really hate the practice of weight draining, If De La Hoya shows up to fight anywhere near 160 next week Pac is going to have one hell of a time hanging in there.

 

I think Hoya's comming into the ring at 155, Manny at 150 or less.

 

Oscar is gonna be 163+ on fight night.
