This could be a good enough accomplishment to propel him into the org's top 15, considering that its weak bottom end includes a pair of his countrymen Pedro Taduran and Melvin Jerusalem (2-2 in the last couple of years, although to be fair one loss was a close one to Wanheng Menayothin, whom GAB straw champ Taduran is himself about to challenge for the WBC belt...small world) with records honestly no more exceptional than his own, as well as Nicaraguan journeyman Eliezer Gazo who's 18-9-1. He was previously unrated because he spent most of 2017/18 campaigning up at light fly (and once missed weight in that division by 15 lbs - coming in a pound over even the super bantam limit as functionally a featherweight!! Shocking that he is now comfortably making 105 again...)

 

In the co-main event, Genisis "The Cobra" Libranza won by KO - his first in thirteen months, snapping a streak of uncomfortably close points wins (SD12 in April over Ryan Ponteras and MD10 last December over Michael Enriquez) and extending his comeback streak to 5-0 (2) since his lone defeat, when Moruti "Babyface" Mthalane kayoed him in the 4th of an IBO world flyweight title defense last year.

 

Ronnie Baldonado, another once-beaten prospect who recently stepped up in class too soon and got stopped (by Kosei Tanaka in March) also extended his comeback via TKO, now 2-0 (2) since he fought Tanaka and 12-1-1 (9) overall.

...those at first glance seemed way too close but then I learned that Cuarto was hit with a two-point deduction in round 4, as the ref had ruled a headbutt that cut Azarcon to be intentional, which I hadn't picked up on watching it live. So in light of that, pretty good scorecards.

 

My final scorecard, then, adjusted for the flagrant-foul penalty, reads 115-111 Cuarto.

Eh, officially 0 for 2 today, getting a single person to participate in a RBR thread. 43 posts between them, ALL mine. Granted, both were super obscure match-ups except maybe for die-hard followers of the Asian scene, and neither was incredibly competitive, but still. It was a Tuesday morning treat of live action, not just one but double the opportunity for a fix, and I saw lots of you fuckers online who instead opted with going "meh. Wilder vs. Fury banter is more of my speed..."

Legit contender if he stays the course going the WBO route. Him beating Saludar isn't outrageously implausible...but Kyoguchi, Wanheng and Knockout are probably well beyond his grasp, just higher levels.

 

You get around to watching?

Cuarto is a little crude, slack on defense, and doesn't seem to possess enormous one punch stopping power...but that said, he isn't horrible, as far as the low bar set for contenders in a shallow division like straw. He does have a reliable enough gas tank and works the body well.
