Report: Teddy Atlas will no longer train Alexander Povetkin

Povetkin appeared to decline during most of his time with Teddy. He seemed overly hesitant in the Firtha fight and he was getting hit too much against clubfighters like Mora. However, he seemed back to his normal confident self in his last fight against Boswell.

 

Atlas had him thinking about going back to the amateur ranks to compete in the Olympics.

 

Good riddance.

 

I hope Pov gets some more good wins under his belt after Atlas has gone. If he gets beat we will never hear the end of it.

 

I'm not a fan of teddy at all in any way but it sounds like he's getting done dirty here.

 

Atlas tried his best, but Povetkin still came out a top fighter! I guess Taddy just had to give up on him...

 

No, not at all. What amazes me is that Povetkin tolerated him for so long.

He should have a trainer who's a little closer to where he lives, able to communicate directly with him, and who knows how to train fighters. I remember Atlas had Michael Grant fighting a bunch of real low quality fighters to build up his confidence and then stepped him up with Guinn and that was that.

If Povetkin understood english and watch FNF I don't think he would've picked Teddy for a trainer. Face it, Teddy's still living off that cell phone moment with Michael Moorer vs Holyfield.

 

Teddy has been saying thst he doesn't have the patience or desire to be a trainer again. I guess they gave him an offer he couldn't refuse at that moment.

 

Atlas wanted to take things too slow with Povetkin

 

I hope Povetkin gets a big payday against Wlad next and gives Atlas memories of Lalonde

 

The Jewish mobsters that manage Povetkin must of had a problem with the Jewish mobster(Atlas) that was training him. Probably money related!!!

 

Atlas is a control freak and a drama queen, it was always all about him (or any fighter he trained).

He's right about one thing though, Povetkin does have an identity now thanks to him.......as a ducker and a waste of talent.

 

It is always the same. If a European Boxer wants to train with an american coach and this boxer is with Sauerland or Universum (in the past), than this is very very difficult. Some forces (Ex-DDR-Coaches for example) do all what they can to make the fighter split with the american coach.

Look at the past, it happen to the May brothers., Timo Hoffmann and some more.

The best example is Wlad. He was the only one who stay to his coach Emanuel Steward. But it was very very difficult for Wlad and Emanuel. Only because of the deep friendship between them it works.

Before Wlad had worked with other american coaches, Tommy Brooks, Don Turner but it was always the same, after one or two fights they make the coaches gone away.

DDR Coaches believe the boxers are slave and they does not realize that we live in a free world. Everybody have the right to train with a coach or another. It is about the boxer not the coaches.
