    That is just tremendously biased.

    - the perfomance against Holy was quite an accomplishment, in articular for a former middleweight.the same Holy Roy did not want to fight.

    - sam did not outbox James in that first fight.Press Row , Showtime most fans thought Toney deserved the nod.

    - toney drew with Rahman and arguably make him quit in the 2nd fight.

    - he did beat Oquendo

    - his victory over Ruiz can not be totall erased, taking into account that toney was fat and beat him on skills only

You do realize that we are talking about mid to end 30s short former middleweight ????

Not sure I would agree with that really. I am often critical of Roy for his absolute awful opposition between 1998 and 2003. Toney went through a similar spurt for a few years where he fought absolutely nobody. The Jirov win was a good one for Toney. The Toney win was a good one for Roy.

What I would have liked to have seen was a rematch at either Cruiserweight or Heavyweight after Jones beat Ruiz. I think that would have been a very good fight at the time. Thoughts? :think

It would have been great. But somehow both guys were never really at the top for a prolonged period time.

I think James chances to beat Roy would have been best at heavyweight. In any other weight class Jones is the favourite in my view cause Roy has a difficult style for the style of Toney.

It is a pickem for me at CW or HW, maybe even slightly favoring Toney.. As he was more proven at HW and CW.

Roy didn't have that same footspeed at the higher weights that he used against Toney at 168. It would have been a much better fight.

I wonder why Jones didn't try and line up a Cruiserweight title fight after he dropped the WBA belt and announced he was leaving Heavyweight. Wayne Braithwaite had the WBC belt, Mormeck had the WBA belt, and O'Neil Bell had the IBF (I think those are close for the most part) all 3 fights were very winnable for Jones. Bell later became the first undisputed Cruiserweight champion since Holyfield and unified all 3 belts 2 years later.

    Roy's opposition wasn't absolutely awful from 98-2003.

But when it comes to Roy, you are an absolutely awful poster.

So Jirov was a good win for Toney, but Roy's win over Ruiz was pointless?

    :patsch

Because Roy had zero interest in the CW division at the time.

    Also, beating Tarver made history.

The first part is unsubstantiated opinion by you as usual.

The highlighted part is yet another falsehood by you. It was in no way shape or form History. Why? Because Jones did not fight Lennox Lewis and win then come back down. He fought John Ruiz who had a trinket alphabet belt. Neither of those things (beating Ruiz or moving back down to beat Tarver) is 'history' because Jones did not fight THE champion Lennox Lewis. Run along now before you come in here with your woulda, shoulda, coulda, BS and **** up another thread in which we are actually having a decent discussion. Do you have Aspergers or are you Autistic or something? Seriously?:rofl

    1. It's not an unsubstantiated opinion. I can show you an interview where Roy speaks about it.

    2. Yes, he did make history. I, like yourself, wish that we had less weight classes and only one belt per division, like in days gone by. But we haven't. When Roy won the WBA, HW title, he was not 'The Man' at the weight. We know that. But he was officially a HW title holder. When he beat Tarver, he became only the second guy in history to have won belts at MW, LHW, and HW, before dropping back to reclaim the LHW titles. That's a fact. Nothing you say will change that. It's not Roy's fault that there's four world title belts instead of one.

    3. You're asking me if I have Asperger's etc?

You need to read what you type, before you hit the submit button.

What if RJJ had moved up to HW in 2001 to fight Rahman after he beat Lewis?

He would have been fighting THE champion.
