Ricardo Cordoba v Guillermo Rigondeaux on Pac u/c

What's everyone's take on this? Cordoba 37-2-2 will be remembered for his epic with Dunne is taking on hotshot Rigondeaux who is only 6-0 for the Interim WBA Super-Bantamweight title.

An intriguing support bout I have to say.

 

Rigondeaux will win pretty comfortably IMO. He's just that good yep

But I do like the matchmaking, not wasting any more time with Rigo and pushing him on.

 

Paycheque aside I wonder what that does for the soul getting beat by a guy with 6 pro fights on one of the biggest cards of the year and when you've only lost a couple in you pro life having had 40 or so fights.

Crushing.

 

I wonder who they'll put Pavlik in with on this card.

 

Could be quite a difficult stylistic matchup for Rigondeaux. But it depends how Cordoba fights, he can be wily and skilful but fought like a ****** against Dunne and got counterpunched. He'll lose badly if he does that again.

Rigondeaux should find a way to win because I picked him in my fantasy team.

Now someone wake that lazy ******* Sillakh up.

 

Hopefully someone like David Lopez.

I actually think Cordoba might nick this one if he counterpunches effectively and not do what he did against Dunne.

 

Roy Jones has a fight coming up, Sillakh should land on there.
I love this fight, certainly not going to be as easy for Rigondeaux as the general forum thinks. Have to say, IMO, Cordobas a better opponent than anyone Gamboa has faced and its only Rigos 6th fight. Hopefully Rigo has straightened himself out. Freddie Roach said when Rigo came to the wildcard Rigo had terrible gear so Freddie bought him top range stuff...Rigo went out and sold the stuff Freddie gave him :rofl

Great fight this....certainly the only fight I would be looking forward to on that night. Had a ganders on boxrec to see what Cordoba has been up to since the Dunne fight and he has been active which is good.

Certainly make or break for Rigondeaux. At nearly 30 (maybe) he hasn't got time to muck about.

 

This is a pretty rapid ascent in class for the Cuban. I assume that, being an eliminator, should he get through this they will be looking at poonsawat next. That's pretty good company to be in with in fight 7 and 8 regardless of amateur pedigree.

I think it's a tough ask of the man. He's yet to be in a competitive fight and his longest fight so far was an 8 rounder. I agree that there is a tendency to baby amateur fighters for too long sometimes, and i equally understand that Rigondeaux is getting on a bit for a super bantam, but there are still notable differences between the pro and am games.

We might just find that these guys are just a bit too crafty for a newly turned pro regardless of his incredible athlethic talent.

 

If they show this fight on the PPv, I will buy....

 

excellent, what a great step up. Rigondeaux really needs it though, he's been literally 3-4 levels above his recent opponents. Hopefully, this will get him more concentrated because when he is in a fight, I suspect he will become top 5 p4p

 

Rigondeaux should nick that one, think he'l start to look better once he fights people he will open up rather than shity journymens who dont throw many punches.

 

The step up his massive for Rigo but I still think he'll do the job and get a UD. I think it's too big of a step up for him though but he has to take the chances when they arrive at his age. He hasn't even fought a ten round fight, let alone a twelve.

To be honest, I know of Rigo more by reputation than by watching him. I did have a little look on youtube at one of his fights (I forget which) and he's obviously got skills but I got the impression that it was against a bit of a can. He's doing the right thing though, at his age he needs to be fast tracked.

Massive gamble but fair play, good to see these prospects taking a step up early doors!
