If I had a ticket I wouldn´t tbh..... I mean, the card is far from great but is okay : Wanderlei Silva x Rich Franklin Fabrício Werdum x Mike Russow Miltinho Vieira x Felipe Sertanejo Hacran Dias x Yuri Marajó
I dont know if he's going to be more shopworn with this fight being 3 or so years later, but Wandy rocked the **** out of Rich in the second or third round, but was too exhausted to really finish it due to the weight cut to 195. Maybe it's just a pipe dream, but Rich isnt a huge hitter and can be overwhelmed. But he did drop Wandy too iirc... I think there's a small chance Wandy may pull the W here, but you'd have to favour Rich by UD
I think Wand's only chance is if Rich is really rusty and starts very slow. That or age has randonly taken over him and he can't avoid the wild KTFO.
I like it. Two older fighter who have done a lot in their careers and are still very competitive, and you know Rich Franklin will trade with Wandy... there will be a spectacular KO one way or the other.
Probably, maybe there should be a 35+ category in MMA, The ACE vs The Axe Murderer is a huge fight, but because they haven't been at the top for a long time people aren't excited. People would pay big money to watch Fedor Vs Couture but because they are older and not fighting for titles people just say they are shot etc etc. I'm sure this will be considered in the future.
Guys are going to fight way past prime anyway. I think that if old guys insist on fighting and people still want to see them, they should informally be matched against other veterans. Better IMO to see 2012 Wanderlei get KOed by somebody like Franklin than by some 24 year old who is simply too much of an athlete for old, slow, chinny Wandy to handle. :hat
Not keen on Cung Le vs Patrick Cote. Thats a bit poo for me in terms of names and intrigue but it could still be a good fight.
