Richard Schaefer - People can turn on PPV very quickly

Of course the fans are being robbed. Your being prayed on by the promoter and broadcaster for your love of the sport. Everytime theirs a "big" fight on its on PPV, it's like saying "when barcalona play osasuna you can have that for £25 a month, what the heck we will even give you barca vs celta Vigo but when they play Bayern Munich we want £17 for that on Top of the £25.

 

I'm sure i've read Sky pay around £200k for normal shows. They have around 20 shows. That's £4m which isn't a huge amount spread around all the match room fighters.

The stupidity of claiming you are being robbed when you are actually choosing to buy something completely inessential is off charts. You would be as well protesting outside Nandos that their chicken is too expensive.

 

That's quite low I expect its at least double that I believe boxnations deal was being reported at £100m for 5 years.

Don't forget that's just tv money so say if it is only 200k factor in ticket sales (10k tickets at average of £55 is £55000k) and sponsorship ( £10k-£1m depending on who's boxing)

 

Sounds low but then also ticket prices, sponsor money etc..

Obviously nobody is literally being robbed, but some of the PPV events have been taking advantage of fans on another level to what we're already used to...

 

Matchroom get varying amounts of rights fees throughout the year but it is around £3-4million a year total. That's marginally less than Sky's contract with the WWE.

 

It is wrong that Joshua v Martin, Breazeale and Molina marketed as 50/50 fights by fighters, promoters and Sky when we knew these were 100/0 fights.

Charging people PPV for this tripe is the same as charging PPV money for Man Utd v Cambridge United in FA Cup, Real Madrid v Eibar FC and Bayern Munich v Freiburg.

This can only happen in wrestling and boxing

It is wrong and a con.

 

At least with the WWE you can bypass the broadcaster and pay a tenner a month to view the majority of content.

 

Eddie on his latest ifl TV said Joshua v Molina did more than Joshua v Whyte (420k).

Thats crazy. Anthony Joshua makes it rain. The guy is living atm machine.

 

He mentioned that the Frampton v Quigg undercard suffered because of it but AJ wants decent undercard fights on his shows.

 

But WWE only did this because the PPV's were not doing good numbers. They had no choice but to start their own network.

The PPV market here currently is doing well. It can't be denied that AJ is doing some crazy Numbers. People have no issue paying to watch him fight.

People on here keep predicting every next fight will see people turn away from AJ when it is clearly the opposite. He is getting new fans.
