i havent seen all his fights granted, but ive seen enough lately due to all the attention, and what ive seen of him is a 5'10 gritty ******* with great conditioning. But would there be anyway of refining his game as he has stepped up lately, ive noticed he aint the fighter i thought he was. hes like a weak punching pressure fighter with a decent height and reach advantage over about 90% of his opponents. He uses his jab well and he outboxs alot of people just with the jab, then he gets confident and wants to put the hurt on his man or whatever, does he think he developed some power from somewhere? Hes not a outside counter puncher, which should be with such physical attributes, he punches too much, and he even punches with long wild right hands when he is inside with a hooker. Beltran etc. trying to fight out of a clinch with a brawler like beltran whose signature punch is the left hook. :huh also whats his body punching like? his 1-2 is pretty good but sometimes he misses that right hand seems a bit telegraphed, if he could incoperate more bodypunching he would of done beltran with ease and stopped the mexican walking up to him all night, same goes with zlatacinnin. Was he ever a patient fighter? its seems he goes gun-ho in the first few rounds and sets a high pace, he doesnt need too. a 12 round UD working behind his jab will do the job 50% of the fight, but he looks completely rushed and uncomfortable. which i understand happens when your fighting at world level. Its all very me critising him from armchair beer in hand, but some of these tactics and errors are glaringly obvious.
was talking about world level/ european level. crawford is a special talent, raymundo and zlaticinnin are very beatable. anyway we will see how mitchell does when he gets his shot he beat maduma who was a dangerous fighter, came back as he had the equaliser.
rickys words " easy money" Ricky would be to quick and strong IMO But it would be a better fight now than 18 months ago when Ricky for sure would have won with a bit in hand
still had to stop him and did so very well. if burns did that you would be screaming from the rooftops about the toughness heart and grit.
If it's such easy money, why not take it? He clearly needed to rebuild after being humbled by Crawford and after three shocking performances in a row a big fight vs Crolla would have been a very sensible option.
Ricky then and now is miles apart Billy. I'm not so sure at present ricky could beat any top 3 at LW domestically. Hope I wrong tho.
One of worst stoppages ever, as only 4 seconds left in round with Mitchell in nautral corner so he had no time to get across and hit guy before bell. So guy should have been gave his minute to recover as he schooled Mitchell for most of fight

Billy its no pish and you know how big a ricky fan i am i never miss a fight or weigh in etc but going on since beltran its been getting worse and worse , the praise comes when your up there and the criticism when yer down but thats how the sport is
What Stevie is saying its very true Billy, it can't be easy seeing your boxing hero in such drastic decline. With me I never seen it in the ring as Scott was out of the game that long it was obvious he wouldn't be at his old best. But from being by and far the best lightweight in country Ricky isn't the best now. If Scott manages to stay away from Spain after a warm up fight v someone like Curtis (easy nights work for Scott) I would love to see him fight Zlaticanin as it would be a war Scott would still win.
