Acosta was clearly in control throughout that fight; I gave Moses one round out of six.

I also saw Baloyi in his second fight with Fana, where he was quite clearly past it and had little to offer. That was two years before he fought Moses...

Fana lost to Dean Pithie at one stage, that didn't quite show in his quality at the time, Moses still had a lot left when he fought Burns, what did Acosta do that would make Moses such a souless fighter? Moses boxed well against Acosta

as or Baloyi, Moses beat him, so whats the issue? SD or not, Moses beat him, and he was up for a great fight until yesterday

I wouldn't say he did that well against Acosta. And being pushed hard by Baloyi would suggest he's not quite the force he once was.

I'm not saying he was a poor opponent for Burns, he definitely wasn't. All I was saying was that he and Mitchell were at a similar level when Burns fought them.

I would agree with that, I wasn't really arguing either, I just didn't want this to become a debunking of a good scalp for Burns, which Moses was.

And let's remember, Ji Hoon Kim was gifted a fight against Rahimov, and before that, beat Yakubu Amidu in an out and out brawl, and Amidu had some great moments.

Burns beat Amidu a long time ago

Now if we wanted to get into the Prescott/Abril/Mitchell/Alvarado/Rios fights (All of which I have seen) then that's an entirely different avenue, but one which Burns can definately come out shining in

Brenny, I hope you dont mind me asking, but who is that gun toting dude in your avatar?
The reason I ask, is that hes the absolute spitting image of someone I know! Hes not a mate, just someone who I have the displeasure to bump into from time to time...

    Same evil grin!

I think a blind deaf man could put the sequence of events together that led from Burns being put on the canvas and soundly beaten by C-Jo, to outgritting Martinez, to putting away Kevin Mitchell in imperious fashion and deduce that Ricky Burns at 29 years old, one weight up from where he started his career, is in his absolute physical, technical and mental peak right this very moment. To be wasting it fighting back to back domestic opponents who do not figure on the world stage is absolutely infuriating.

What the hell is wrong with Frank at the moment? His handling of Cleverly and Burns is disgracefully inept. I'd be embarrassed to even be involved in the business if I was him at the moment. In any other job thats such inadequacy you'd be struggling to stave off the dole.

Burns to stop Liam inside 6 rounds, If Ricky's motivated and sharp as he was against Mitchell he will do exactly the same.

Liam was outhustled and controlled for a spell by Paul Appleby, Liam is a sucker for a left hook in short range.

Can't see him doing anything to really trouble Ricky, Kid has got nice variety but this fight just isn't for him sadly.

If Ricky doesn't step up in next fight after this i'm done watching him. I'm already done watching Cleverly. I don't even acknowledge his career really bar entering threads to take ****.

Frank is simply being himself. He is just using his old tried and tested 'Calzaghe formula' for matchmaking.

Any fighter worth ones salt, should know that they are just a cash cow to Frank.

Why would Frank let his cash cows wander onto the highway, when they can graze safely in the meadow?

Disagree Rob. Moses was pretty past it, and never anything above B- level and Mitchell is not even that.

To me, Mitchell was the ''easy, slip it in between two hard fights for a quick payday'' defence, rather than what could sadly prove to be the peak of his career.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that Burns ought to be fighting Marquez or even Khan, but there's nobody at 135 that they ought to be overly fearful of.

Walsh just isn't on that level - given that Frank manages both fighters, you could say that he's not doing the necessary job for either. Walsh ought to be looking at conquering his domestic foes and Burns solidifying his postion in the top three in the division.

Given that Walsh went pretty much life and death with Appleby, you've got to fancy Burns to get him out of there inside six rounds.

Yep, pretty much throwing Walsh the the wolves. Why Walsh isn't forging a steady path towards his own title ambitions I'm really not sure. A life and death struggle with Appleby hardly suggests this is what he needs.
