Hatton heard a bell ring from the crowd, dropping his guard believing the round was over.

Do you want Ricky to die?

He is very lucky to be alive.

The reason he didn't get up was because he was waiting for the counting to start. He thought the ref was being lenient.

His plan was obviously, "same old ricky for two rounds, then I bust out the new **** and floor this fool."

Ricky Hatton needs another trainer that will get on his butt about keeping his hands high in guard position. Floyd Sr should be partly blamed for this loss because Hatton went straight into combat without protecting himself and almost got knocked out in the first round.

All this talk about Hatton retiring is Floyd's fault IMO. If Ricky Hatton was my fighter, there is absolutely no way his hands would be perched at his ribcage leaving him wide open to any heavy shots, which he exhibited during the fight. It baffles me that Floyd Sr didn't understand the importance of Ricky's hand position, especially considering the very nature of Hatton's pressure style.

Floyd Sr should have paid more attention to training in the same manner that Cus D'Amato and Teddy Atlas worked with Tyson, by making sure Ricky's hands stay up in guard position. All of the head movement, feinting, slipping, bobbing, weaving that Floyd supposedly taught Hattoin didn't do SDFA when his hands were by his waist.

Ricky Hatton needs a guy like Emmanuel Steward or Don Turner in his corner. If Freddie Roach was in Hatton's corner, he wouldn't have been caught with that power left hook.
