It was totally understandable that he didnt want to fight Witter back then but now its just ridiculous, Witter is on the roll, he is a belt holder and Hatton is coming off a loss and is thinking of fighting guys who are below Witter, so why not fight Witter now.

Most of the time, fighters reject bouts for risk/reward reasons because of a lack of money. What's unusual in this case is that Hatton is facing a competitive risk/reward scenario. No matter what Witter brings in terms of prestige or money, the assumed No. 1 guy would have his domestic legacy shattered if he were to lose to Witter. This is why Hatton is so reluctant to take the fight. He can't afford to lose it, whereas a defeat to Mayweather didn't hurt him at all in England.

What Hatton does not realise is that by avoiding Witter he is losing credibility and the respect of boxing fans. Avoiding someone because they are dangerous shows a lack of respect for the fans because it suggest Hatton wants us to pay him to beat up bums. Come on Hatton show the same courage you showed us when you prepared for those big battles with Tzyu and Mayweather!
