Feeling pretty bad about this. One more reason to support any effort to prevent mental and physical decline for all in danger! This is what society should strive to offer.
All my Aussie pals are gutted too. Media doing the right thing - reporting this properly. Talking about his career. Good to see the Tszyu connection is still strong. RIP!
I remember the first time I saw him fight I was just a kid and he destroyed Aussie Justin Rowsell in two rounds it was brutal. Rowsell didn't know what he was walking into.
Yeah Hatton has always been pretty popular down here. I remember it was a big deal when he brought his man Rabchenko out here to fight Mundine about 10 years ago everyone wanted a piece of Ricky down in Melbourne he was getting taken to dinner every night he was here.
I remember that fight too. There have obviously been many other great body punchers but in terms of weight of shot Hatton's left hook downstairs I can't think of a heavier one. He got great torque on it and placed it beutifully I actually rooted for Kostya over Hatton because even though Hatton was British Kostya was my favourite fighter. But I was a big Hatton fan too and it's the only time I rooted against him.
Yeah I remember being sad when Tszyu lost to Hatton but I thought I am glad it was someone humble like Ricky that dethroned him. It was a pretty brutal fight and a changing of the guard moment. Hatton was a beast at 140 he beat the fight out of Kostya that night. Russel Crowe was with Tszyu after the fight and he said poor Kostya was pissing blood all night and was not in a good way.
Very sad news! He was one of my all time favorites! He was my favorite fighter from the time he fought Pendleton until his last fight. I even ordered all his other fights. I'm glad he got inducted into the HOF while he was alive. I wish I could have met him. I have a limited edition Richard Slone painting of his fight with Mayweather in my man cave. Condolences to Ricky's family, friends, and fans! He will be greatly missed. RIP CHAMP! God Bless! There's only one Ricky Hatton!!
I was gutted. I was pleased for Hatton but it was a combination of him getting Kostya at the right time and Hatton fighting like a man possessed that night. Hatton was extremely hungry, focused and determined that night and he fought the fight of his life. It's hard to beat someone when they're that hungry, determined, and locked in, especially in their backyard Yeah, it was pretty brutal and I should imagine many of Hatton's opponents and sparring partners were peeing blood after sharing a ring with him and many nursing broken ribs too Kostya was a nasty body puncher too Timestamped This content is protected
Kiwi here and this one really hits deep. One of the most beloved and talented fighters to come out of Europe. Really appreciate the focus on his legacy. Obviously his victory over Tszyu is significant and he went on to great, great things but his British title fight v Thaxton is one that will live long in the memory for me. RIP warrior.
Hatton was like a tornado in the ring, non stop, ferocious and relentless in his persuit of destruction, and for the unlucky ones that stood in his way, they simply got bowled over. He was a joy to watch and always came across as a guy that I would like to sit down with a share a few pints with and talk boxing. Too young. He still had many years to go. RIP Mr. Hatton.
