Well get ready for some 'Shattered Glass' then. Hatton should retire while he can still speak.

:thumbsup You know what Deano, that would be a great match-up!!!!

It would sell in the U.K, due to Ricky's popularity and the "Avenger" aspect (Despite Lovemore drawing with Matty and not hammering him).

It would also allow Ricky to gauge his potential standing in the 147 ranks without too much risk being placed upon himself (I start to get nervous whenever there is talk of Ricky fighting again, simply because his style makes it so easy to envisage another Pacquiaoesque ko).

Relative to his talent, Hatton has had a great career - 5 years as the legitimate, linear Light-Welterweight Champion of the World. Only lost 2 fights, both to P4P Kings, and has beat two other P4P Elite in Tszyu and Castillo.

    Its going to be JMM.
Its in the scene of boxing. JMM is the leading candidate for Hattons next fight and since JMM has already fought at WW im sure he will do it again for the money. Hiopefully JMM doesnt try to bulk up too much although he will KO HAtton at any weight.

You love your shattered glass, don't you Rico?:).

In this case however, you are right and perhaps Ricky should call it quits if he cannot make it down to 140. For many reasons, but most importantly for his health.

I'd very much like Ricky to make a comeback and wage a war against one of today's welterweights. His departure against Pac really wasn't the dignified exit I feel he deserves from the sport, and I honestly believe he has a fair bit left to offer. In context, the pac fight was entirely wrong for Hatton, and I was absolutely gutted to see him go out like that.

Hatton deserves some respect in this division, he dispatched of Malignaggi very easily, who, according to Viviek Wallace "would stand a chance against Pacquiao." I think Wallace is a smashing reporter and is very objective, but I do completely disagree with him saying Malignaggi has a chance against Pac. What I am saying is by my analysis, Hatton is the superior fighter compared to Malignaggi, who in today's time is a credible opponent for the competitive welterweight. On that note, Hatton deserves a shot at a respectable exit and he is more than capable of restoring some pride in himself.

Spot on, just hope hatton doesn't go into a potential fight with cotto like a bull in a china shop and use controlled agression and use is strength the body shot with his left is an incredible punch.

Knotty mate, your analysis is fair, but imo Ricky fighting at 147 is not good for him at all.

His performance against Paulie advised me that he will always fare well against light punching slicksters like Malignaggi, but it is the brutes who await at the 147 that concern me.

Deano has just posted the suggestion that Ricky fights Lovemore N'dou and I think that would be a great first fight back for Ricky, what do you think?

N'dou would be the "wise" decision for Ricky. However I don't think he'll go for N'dou given his nature, and the fact he's gone on record saying he'll go straight for a world title should he make a return. I don't like him at 147 at all. People say he's too big now for 140, but it's not as though he's ever had much trouble making weight, regardless of the implications he's succumbed to regarding his weight issues.

Im saying, Campbell, Alexander, Urango, possibly even Judah, would be a decent, likely match for Ricky (aswell as N'dou). I think JMM at 140 would also be a very credible option for Ricky, would be a belter of a war aswell imo.

Gotta say though, I don't really think it's entirely possible for anyone to make too much of an educated guess as to where Hatton is capable of competing right now. His best bet I agree is to go for the lighter, non brute-esqe fighters, test the water and see exactly what he's capable of. Exaclty what he should have done after Mayweather.

If he really wants to fight again then marquez should be the obvious fight as they are both goldenboy fighters and there won't be a problem negoating that fight.
