Exactly that. But let him get his range and you were putting yourself in dangerous terrirory indeed. I liked him. His resume isn't great, and as per Phillips he supposedly lost out a fight with De La Hoya atsch I might be wrong on that, but I think that's one of the excuses I heard, that he overlooked Phillips. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpPA2u1iLNE[/ame] I respect he was matched hard against some good veterans, but even his big title defences were against the likes of Tackie and Mitchell...and him fighting that Chavez is probably more diabolical than Maidana fighting Morales now. But he did smash people up, and was, one slip aside, consistent throughout his career, some good names, some solid wins but nothing amazing. One of those 'decent' wins, good scrap this, not sure if it says anything about how great Tszyu really was though? Hurtado had given an ageing Pea some trouble, but was no great shakes. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gW-HqwrwLHE[/ame] 5 second or so into the first ;-) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL0pisF2t04[/ame] He's thought of as some unstoppable terminator, but I woudn't say he was infallible. In terms of 'greatness', I'm not sure he did much to distance himself from say, Miguel Cotto. His unification of the belts was a sweet moment though, even with all that has happened no one has made Zab look quite that silly since ;-) Tszyu could really WHACK couldn't he :hey
This is a good point. The main difference is Hatton lost twice. If Froch gets schooled by Ward & Bute their resume's would look a lot more similar.
The only person talking shite is you if you really think Froch is 'my boy'. I think a lot of people would probably laugh at that suggestion...:nut Froch can say what he wants about ****ing Hatton you clown. Hatton isn't on some pedestal miles above Froch. He dined out on one very good win for a number of years, after that only beating B level fighters and then getting throughly embarassed. He's not a God. Oh and Malignaggi taking 5 rounds
I was never impressed with Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler or Abraham. I don't rate any of them. Pascal has no jab, rythm or timing. Taylor and Dirrell were all speed too. They're just athletes with no technical skill. Not even solid - let alone outstanding - fundamentals. Kessler was one-dimensional and Abraham flat-footed, while Johnson is a plodding 42-year-old journeyman. Hatton could win by one-punch KO at top level (Maussa, Castillo) which is a rare quality. He out-boxed Pendleton, Phillips, Urango and Malignaggi - varying styles and sizes. He could win tactically against lb4lb elite (Tszyu). And he showed equal speed and power and equal footwork to that of all-time lb4lb elite (Mayweather), only losing on technical skill. Hatton for me so far. And Froch is older than Hatton.
Can't remember how I scored it but Pea might've been behind in that one. One of his more brutal stoppages, to those who think he's a 'feather fist' ;-) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf9iZHHTBgQ[/ame]
TFFP - To be honest Malinaggi - Cotto was closer than Froch - Kessler. I know that Cotto may have struggled to make the weight a little but he was given 48 hours to rehydrate (the most I've ever seen). I remember about 15-20% of people on here felt that Malinaggi had done enough. You can't seriously think he did not pose Cotto any questions. I simply don't believe that you have seen that fight if that's what your trying to say.
Cotto pummeled him, and took rounds off. Let's score it :good [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-a22OM2XuM[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BfZPiOimGj8&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dz4wnAPGriw&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3fPHpF_lsM&feature=related[/ame] [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zGgPd9g0uWs&feature=related[/ame] He posed so little problems Cotto didn't need to get in top gear for most of the fight. He could literally allow Paulie, with a shattered cheekbone and whatnot, to work. Entertaining fight, yes, but doesn't make Paulie a top fighter, especially when he struggled against lesser opposition. Like Njgoudjo. Who beat Paulie IMO.

Hatton didn't go anywhere near Margarito, Mosley, De La Hoya, Clottey, Judah, Cotto, Marquez or Maidana though, plus he was lucky to the decision against Collazo in my opinon, Tzyu nd Castillo were there for the taking by the time Hatton got to them though, Urango, Malignaggi and Lazcano were all good wins
Im actually livid at the amount of abuse my boy Paulie is getting on this thread. Hes a quality gatekeeper. Hell take care of lower opposition with ease but struggle with elite guys. For a lad with almost no power he has had an exceptional career, i remember that clip from that fight (against diaz i think) where he tags him and paulie is so surprised hed managed to hurt someone he doesnt mount any real attempt to finish him off. On subject Hatton is underrated by some overrated by others, if hed had proper dedication to the sport i think he couldve been alot better. Froch is in the middle of his run at the top so time will tell. At the moment they are on similar standings IMO considering his loss against Kessler was alot closer than either of Hattons losses with Hatton having the better wins so far (by a small margin)
You just said you don't rate Froch's opponents on his resume then say Hatton can KO opponents like Maussa with one punch. A man once dubbed as ''worst world champion in boxing''. He was awful fighter with terrible technique and a walking KO. Castillo was past his prime then and on slide no one can deny that. I respect why your not impressed by Froch's opponents but tbh most fighters nowadays lack the correct technique.
Agreed, despite him beating Harris (another decent but erratic fighter) Maussa was pretty ****;awkward and fairly dangerous, but Hatton was a level above him. Certainly not one to bring up if you're talking about 'levels' of opponent, in terms of one punch power Hatton is overrated as well. A good accumulation puncher, and that bodyshot to Castillo was sick, but Hatton was an average puncher overall IMO.
