It`s too bad Bowe didn't want to find out. He had ability but when you throw a belt in a garbage can to avoid your rival {based on political excuses} then fight for that same belt a couple of years later it looks like he punked out. That is the bottom line.
If Canelo fights GGG in Sept will the first duck ever be remembered? Bowe and Newman cut a deal with Lewis for a fight after he got past MaCall. Bowe had no fear of Lewis like Canelo had of GGG. Maloney , King and Newman were to blame for the belt binning , not Bowe..
That is a convenient excuse. They both lost {who cares?} subsequent fights whose fault is it Bowe retired in 1997? Lewis`s stayed in the heavyweight picture all through the 90s and beyond. Whether Bowe was scared of Lewis or not doesn't really matter. When Bowe had an opportunity he didn't want it or he let his manager talk him out of it. Bowe used the excuse that the WBC wasn`t a worthy organization at the time he avoided Lewis then fought for that same belt a couple of years later. So the excuses were always from Bowe`s side...it was just bull****

The only prob I have is the duck of lewis..He mentally had Bowes number, he wouldn't of performed the same v lennox. Take him out of it and he quite possibly h2h beats all before him. Very very good fighter. I seen enough in his brief prime to know he was legit in every department. Just lazy
Bowe at his best was sensational. I agree he would beaten Lennox Lewis . Sonny Liston would have faced one of the most difficult fights ever against Bowe . 50/50 fight IMHO. Tyson has a chance as well but if he doesn't hurt Bowe early or at least see things going in his favor he could very well mentally break down again . The big man had a lot of heart and a solid ass chin. Risky fight for Tyson . Yet Another toss up.
Never been too impressed by Bowe. He mainly used his size and nut punches to beat smaller opponents, and to sucker guys into sloppy ass brawls where his size could tell. Golota showed what he'd do against a skilled big guy his own size.
He had panic attacks and a fear to succeed, golota is just one of those guys who suffers from tremendous performance anxiety but actually sabotages himself as well.
Golota simply could not control himself imho. There are some guys that throw the rulebook out the window when in a firefight and react on instinct. I think Golota is one of them. If you watch MMA take a look at a golden oldie fight between "Dirty" Bob Schrieber and Daijiro Matsui. I can't remember all the twists and turns, but Schrieber was eventually disqualified for axe-kicking Matsui in the back of the head while he was on his knees. Another guy that simply could not help himself.
Yeah, I can see that. Boxing is a very very tough activity. Sometimes you just want to throw off your headgear and tackle the other guy. And when you mix it with emotions like doubt, fear, anxiety like Contro said, it gets obscure. The crazy part is that Golota put in decades worth of work to get to that position, and gave it all up. This is why I have such tremendous admiration for Mayweathers mental strength and his consistency. It's easy to feel like fighting on some certain night when you feel a certain way. It's incredibly difficult to feel like fighting every day, all the time.
dirty bob was nuts, got on his knees and begged for forgiveness straight afterwards. don't think golota had that sporting spirt. the last bowe fight i watched was holy 1 and i think a few hw's can be favored over that him, lewis and foreman stand out to me.
