I'd go for his HW contender days into Douglas, super sharp. But there's no youngerfield love in around here

I don't think the evidence supports that. Look at the size of guys Liston was knocking out for one. Then look at Bowe's KOs of Holyfield 2, Ferguson, Seldon, Cooper, Hide, Dokes and Gonzalez. He's knocking out bigger men just as brutally.

Bowe is more fluid than Foreman and imo his physical and punching equal. Except he turns his punches over better than George and they're sharper. It's a pickem none the less but if Lyle can take Big GEorge to the limit Bowe doing 1 better is realistic.

I see him as a slightly bigger sharper lazier Foreman or a much bigger Louis who was more sloppy.

Yes but I still think the fight is Holmes to control with his sharper quicker boxing.

    this is crazy man...

so what if bowe is 6'4.5"?? after the first holyfield fight, when he trash talked with lewis, they looked about the same height..meaning 6'5"

so what if he wasn't ripped???this isn't bodybuilding, this is boxing...
bowe at 235 lbs went 12 hard paced rounds with prime evander holyfield.
never saw wlad klit or lewis showing that kind of stamina...plus he carried his power late in the fight, when you saw evander holyfield having a visit to the canvas!

golota fights were past prime no doubt about that man, plus he was under motivated, under trained...if anything, that fights show how much of a warrior is bowe, and how much good chin he had -> he took them heavy punches from a 240 lbs hard hitting roided boxer-puncher and kept coming back.

he put holyfield to the canvas, and holyfield said that uppercut in 10th round was the most hardest punch he took...plus holyfield had an grade A chin, and one of the toughest boxers ever to step in the ring.

    great description of bowe, agree

could be, but eventually bowe will walk him down , and larry had a big ego, which means he liked to slug it out sometimes...he could get away against witherspoon or norton with that, but bowe could put his lights out!

Except that chicken Bowe ran for the hills when he had his chance to fight Lewis. Tell me again why that fight never took place?

I don't see Bowe as being a bigger hitter than Liston and Foreman but there's no real way of knowing.

Too many of Bowe's debates end up being hypothetical because he didn't face a variety of elite opponents over his career. Shame really.

That's nonsense. In the ring after the Holyfield fight, Bowe's team talked about dodging Lewis (who they'd already agreed to fight) to face George Foreman in China.

HBO desperately wanted Bowe-Lewis (and not Bowe-Foreman - since Foreman just looked like total **** against Alex Stewart) and offered the Bowe and Lewis camps $32 million - it was up to the two camps to determine the purse split.

Rock Newman wanted $29 million for Bowe and $3 million for Lewis (essentially a 90-10 split) ...

Also, IF LEWIS WON, Lewis would get $15 million for a rematch with Bowe (with Bowe - the challenger - presumably getting more than Lewis, since the first fight was worth $32 million).

Frank Maloney declined. This was a negotiation.

Then Newman said how about you let Bowe defend against someone else, and they'd give Lewis a "step aside" fee of $3 million to fight on Bowe's undercard (and help sell tickets to Bowe's PPV). And if Bowe won, then Lewis could fight for the title later for $9 million ... with Bowe getting $23 million.

Maloney declined, because they wanted to fight Bowe next. They didn't want him losing to someone else or give him 90 percent of the money.

Plus, Bowe had a rematch clause with Holyfield, so the fight had to happen in the spring or early summer.

This went on in the three weeks or so after the Bowe-Holyfield fight.

Then, right around the first week of December, with Newman saying if they didn't take their offer Lewis wouldn't fight Bowe at all in 1993, Lewis accepted the $3 million offer from Newman for a title shot. (Even though Maloney wasn't in favor of it.)

    http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/1992-12-11/sports/9203050846_1_frank-maloney-lewis-promoters-hbo

But, at that point, Newman said he was working on a deal for Bowe to defend his title during halftime of the Super Bowl (which, like the Bowe-Foreman/China deal, was a laugh).

    http://articles.latimes.com/1992-12-08/sports/sp-1788_1_lennox-lewis

And the same week Lewis accepted the offer, Newman and Bowe callled a press conference and said they wouldn't be dictated to by the WBC and dumped the belt.

    http://www.nytimes.com/1992/12/15/sports/boxing-bowe-trashes-his-wbc-title-belt.html

Lewis wasn't afraid of Bowe. Lewis beat him in the Olympics. Lewis signed up for the four-man tournament. He beat Ruddock. He agreed to fight the winner of Bowe-Holyfield 1. Lewis EVEN ACCEPTED the 90-10 split just FOUR WEEKS after the Bowe-Holyfield fight. (That was a quick negotiation.)

Newman and Bowe were the ones who, immediately after beating Holyfield, wanted to fight Foreman, or Garcia, or Dokes or dump the WBC Belt ... anything but fight Lewis.

EVen when Lewis accepted a 90-10 split, and Bowe and Newman stood to make $29 MILLION, they said they wouldn't be DICTATED TO by the WBC.

Instead, Newman had "all these deals" that never amounted to anything.

That mess was all on Bowe and Newman.

Because he felt there was no need to fight a guy who gets ko'ed by one punch TWICE by common ham and eggers.

You do realise this is a guy who at the age of 28 was losing twice to Andrew fuking Golota before the DQ's got him out of trouble?

I can't see what you are actually trying to say.

If you are claiming Bowe was an ATG Heavyweight you couldn't be more wrong.

If you are claiming that on a given night when at his absolute best he could beat almost any Heavyweight ever. Well so could Tokyo Buster Douglas.

You seem to be obsessed with " inside fighting ". Tell me why guys like Vlad, and Lewis would even bother thinking about fighting on the inside, when both are big, and strong enough to tie up anyone who gets close to them, and both are very effective from long to mid range?

Pure lies from a Bowe fan boy.

There was 32 million in the pot, Bowe, and Newman offered Lewis 3 million. Maloney told them to go and fuk themselves. After that fight fell through because Bowe ducked out of it, they later came back with an offer for Lewis to fight on a Bowe undercard for 10 million. Again Maloney told them to fuk off, because he knew they didn't have ten cents, never mind 10 million.

3 poxy million to fight for the belt, but 10 to fight on an undercard with the winners squaring off. Yeah right. Bowe and Newman must have thought Maloney and Lewis were as fuking stupid as them.

This all may well explain why Lewis is now worth well over a hundred million dollars ,and Bowe has still got ten cents.:rofl:rofl:rofl

Apart from the fact I simply don't believe anything you have to say about the matter, and I DO believe this.

In his first comeback fight Lewis was given a chance to fight for the mandatory challenger position within the WBC and won it by knocking out American contender Lionel Butler. However, at the behest of promoter Don King, the WBC bypassed him and gave Mike Tyson the first chance at the title recently been won by Briton Frank Bruno from Oliver McCall. Bruno had previously lost to both Lewis and Tyson.

So exactly who did King want to have the belt if it wasn't Lewis or Bowe, seeing as how Tyson was in prison between 92 and 95?

Bowe at his best was VERY good.
    He's underrated around here.
    Hated too.
