Amazing isn't it, Ali was a shell at 38 and Duran won the middleweight title 2 months shy of that age.

Is there some sort of pension or retirement fund for ex fighters or ex champions? If not, there should be.

A young Mike Tyson would have the best style for an MMA fight IMO. With his blinding speed and those small MMA gloves, it would be curtains for whomever he hit.

I guess he has the name "Riddick Bowe" on his ring record as a win. Of course it doesn't mean much. A win over a 43 year old horribly out of shape Bowe is right above a win over a circa 2017 Ali or Louis.

At least Bowe is still alive.

To see what Bowe was in the early 90s then watch this, it doesn't get much sadder in boxing terms. I'd never have guessed back then that he would be one of the sad stories, he was on top of the world back in the day.

The divide from then to now...

I was never a big fan of Riddick Bowe in his prime. But, to watch this video is heartbreaking. Bowe's level of brain damage from boxing appears to be severe.

Not true, they do have a chance, it's just a different kind of fight.

What is the % of pro boxers who get anything accomplished going into MMA? Extremely low percentage.

Pretty low I think. Merciless Ray Mercer recorded a win against an ex UFC HW world champion.

Apart from this there has been very little success for ex-boxers. What UFC fans never mention though, when they jerk off about how bad boxers are at MMA, is all the 'named' boxers who have taken part have been well overweight, slow, and years past their prime.

We've never yet seen a pro boxer in his prime enter the Octagon. Or not anyone that anyone would have heard of, to my knowledge.

Not saying the boxer would win if he was in his prime, but at least it would make the contest a bit fairer.

It would be very difficult for a boxer to survive. The kicking would be a killer and once taken to the ground it's immediately over.

However put the MMA fighter in a boxing ring under boxing rules it's a different story.

Ever heard of K1? There are plenty of mostly only boxers who are and have been successful in that environment alone. You said boxers, which means that is there primary discipline, which includes more that simply professional boxers going into mma or other fighting organizations.

The idea is any boxer getting into mma where kicking and wrestling and ground pounding is allowed is going to have a very rough time of it.
