Ive said for the LONGEST time that a PRIME MOTIVATED (this is important) Riddick Bowe is the best H2H heavyweight I have ever seen. He is arguably the best inside fighting big man the sport has ever seen. He had far above average power. He had a ROCK for a chin. He had a great workrate. He had an above average jab. He was strong as a bull. I could really keep going. But in all honesty, vs any top HW I can think of, Bowe holds some type of advantage. His strengths are also all of Wlad's weaknesses. He would stop Wlad within 6 rounds. People far underrate this man, due to his poor conditioning habits and his post prime self. But a PRIME MOTIVATED Bowe was a force of nature.
The "prime" Bowe existed for such a short period of time that I'm not even sure it existed. Wlad by UD12.
Agree 100%, but I think he brings some of the underrating on himself because he didn't fight Lennox or Mike. He'd still spank Wlad though:!:
And the prime Bowe would beat Wlad so badly that you wouldn't even be sure that Wladdy boy existed:bbb :!:
So was a PRIME MOTIVATED Buster Douglas. Big whoop. You could say this for alot of guys, but the fact remains: The difference between the good athletes and the elite ones (in any sport) is the ability to always be prepared, self-motivated and determined. This simply does not define Riddick Bowe.
But going on that train of thought..where do we rank Tyson then? His reign/prime were the most dominating in history, yet was really only a couple of years (Bowe was actually at the top of his game longer...). With Bowe's phenominal chin and great upper body movement, I just dont see Wlad keeping Bowe from getting inside...and once that happens, its only a matter of time till its goodnight.
Prime motivated Buster Douglas is = to a Prime motivated Riddick Bowe? :nut And I can give you hundreds of cases where elite athletes let themselves go. Do you consider James Toney elite? Lets go to other sports shall we? Charles Barkley? Curt Schilling? You have to be kidding me with that last post. Go watch some old fights for Riddicks and see for yourself. The man was a marvel...
Are you out of your mind? Tyson defended his world title 9 times before losing to Douglas. Bowe defended his title twice to undeserving opponents before giving it back to Holyfield. Bowe was good for 1 fight, and that's it. Sure, he was really good in the first Holyfield match-up, but you use this to define his career. Thats very shortsighted. :verysad
After Iggy beats Wlad UD12 all yall who picked against Big Daddy will want to change your votes in embarassment
Who overrates Bowe. People barely even speak of him when they refer to THE heavyweights of the 90's. On the contrary; it is Wlad who gets grossly overrated because fans want to see a dominant heavy champ soo bad and the quality of the division is so poor. Only way Wladdy Boy wins is if he wears a helmet and chin guard.
atsch BOWE was easy to hurt and hit and didnt have trementous power ! He gets sparked ! He in fact had his ass handed to him by old TUBBS and was beaton into retirement by the first decent big man he fought ! Who in fact went on to do **** after spanking BOWE !:deal
LIke I said before... don't use Foul Pole version of Riddick; that's not him in his prime. By the way, Wlad has had points in his career when he looked easy to hurt and hit too, but now fans act like he is the end all beat all.atsch
atsch VLAD is superior at everything bud ! VLAD sparks him ! And BOWE was fine for the POLE fights ! he simply wasnt that good !:deal
