Pretty much all fights pre-1970's... The Italian/Sicilian Mafia controlled boxing for the entire first half of the 1900s and you didn't win a fight unless they OKed it...
have a look at this irish title fight between michael gomez and peter mcdonagh mcdonagh was something like 66/1 to win in a certain round and gomez just turns his back and gives up , even steve collins who was in the studio said it was a fix http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNUjIWLarPM
Oh that's bull****. Were there some guys who probably were on the right side of their fair share of fixed fights? Sure (paging Tony Galento and Primo Carnera), but the vast majority of fights were still clean, and if you believe the people who were actually close to the sport back then, 99% of the fights that people thought were fixed were actually clean.
Fixes happen most time in HW matches, that's where the money is . An obvious example is Brian Nielsen and all his home based victories over names like Larry Holmes, Jeremy Williams, etc... The latest obvious example of a fighter throwing it is Oquendo vs Holyfield, which enabled the beginning of a lucrative comeback for holy hypocrite.
You know, it really appeared that way. Tyson's right hand brushed Seldons hair, and Bruce collapsed. But I still wonder if it was really fixed. Tyson was the favorite, so wouldn't it make sense for the betting underdog to win a fixed fight? Betting the favorite doesn't pay off as much. A lot of times, guys just froze against Tyson. Maybe Seldon's collapse had as much to do about being overwhealmed mentally as did any shot Tyson may have landed.
The famous fixed fight of all time was LaMotta-Fox. Not only was it totally unconvincing, Lamotta admitted going in the bag years later. Fox was a mob controlled boxer that wasn't even good enough to make it look good against Jake. LaMotta tapped him a couple of times and had to hold the guy up. The fight stunk worse than the Staten Island land fill.
