Well I think you are massivley underplaying Rigo's ability as a pro. This is when Boxing is great though. We shall see who has bragging rights come Sunday.
Not that I recall, and I've seen most of his fights. Not even sure as an amateur. The man is a fitness maniac, so he's durable and resilient. In what way?
well...just how i think it may go...maybe donaire winning but heavily scarred while rigo after giving his all cant come out for the final rounds....matador and bull type fight
I think people are applying his excellence as an amateur to his average pro career. He's clearly talented and incredibly well schooled, but against his best opponents he's looked ponderous and negative. He's looked negative against a much lower class of fighter than Donaire, while Donaire has put in his best performances against that calibre of fighter.
Valero administered a beatdown to DeMarco that night. Don't see Rigo having the grit to stand and trade with a fast, hard-punching guy like Donaire. It takes away his best traits on the outside. I do think we'll see a brutal stoppage though.
I havent heard anything of Donaire getting dropped as a pro, I dont think he has. I thought Al Bernstein's break down of the fight and the keys to victory were interesting. Rigo - no lazy jabs, go to the body as Donaire hasnt really been tested much to the body in his fights and Rigo is a hard body puncher, also Rigo to through his straight left - his hardest punch. Donaire - Establish the jab, be patient - dont fight to the crowd if it gets tactical and throw his powerful left hook.
you could well be right fella....god knows i usually call them wrong....but i sure am looking forward to this one.
well...just because of the generous odds offered i chanced a few euros on rigo winning by stoppage....but only because of the big odds 6/1...not that i have any confidence in the bet really

Yeah, I know what you mean. I am thinking that if Donaire wins by KO he will do it within the first six rounds, if he hurts Rigo early, I suspect Rigo will become more defensive. I am thinking of doing Donaire to win by stoppage rounds 4-6 = 11/2
That's the one thing, IMO, that Rigo really shouldn't do. Donaire has this little feint he does with his feet. He lets the southpaw put their lead foot outside of his, then he steps around it and out of position. By that point, the southpaw has thrown their left and is out of position, and Donaire brings the left hook in. Nonito has a lot more tools in this fight.
If Rigo outboxes Donaire and it goes to the cards, I can see him getting robbed. I cannot see him getting a points win unless he schools Donaire - which will not happen.
