A very boring fight. Id keep Rigondeaux to ESPN friday night fights for a while, at least till he gets more offensive minded. The average Joe Blow who buys Pac man fights doesnt want to be bored by running and pot shotting. Gamboa would be a good edition to any undercard though.
And the keep their hands low because they are so used to the headgear protectecting their chins/temples in the amateurs, they arent given sufficient time to adjust to the pro ranks because they are all rushed. and the corn in my **** know more about boxing than you and your daddy combined. so **** off.
He still has the potential to be a great fighter but here's a few things 1- Forget Ronnie Shields, go back to Roach. He had no solid gameplan against Cordoba. 2- Be ready to fight 15- 18- 20 rounds. This is not the amateurs anymore and that's the biggest difference. 3- Hard sparring will get him used to taking shots. He looks like he doesn't like getting hit, the only way to fix that is to get him used to it in the gym.
Very underwhelming performance by Rigo to say the least. I think its clear that of all the recent cuban defectors Gamboa is the one that adjusted better to the pro ranks and will probably be the one who ends up having the better career.
He did the bare minimum to win. This was the first i've seen him live, and I find it a pretty underwhelming experience.
Give him a break, he was fighting an experienced ex-world champ who was a tricky southpaw in his 7th pro fight
ye told us nothin first he desrved the win he wasnt spectacular ..far from it but to beat a bonafide contender top 5 superbantamweight in his 7th fight is spectacular he has good power and great speed and cordoba was all wrong for him he has alot to iron out and probably wont reach the heights in the pro game as he did in the ams but he has serious skills none the less a guy like molitar would be made to order for guillermo just wait and see although hes more mayweather than pac dont think the casual fans will really take to him
Very good point man. His ''sparring'' partners are no better then a punching bag. It's scandalous really: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mpbmUIQrC6E[/ame]
Whatever happened to the hundreds of amateur fights under his belt? never fought a crafty in the amateurs before? highly doubt that.
People here dont seem to have a great understanding of amateur boxing let alone one of its greats. Rigondeaux is looking good and not rushing into violent brutality, after 10 fights since turning pro in 2009 he has an unprecendent path into world championship boxing. He might turn into a "monster" fight fans want to see but with his level of skill I doubt it.
What's next for Rigo? He just beat the Ring #5 SBW. Move up and take on someone like Molitor (#4) or go straight to Nishioka (#1)? I think he'll definitely adjust his game to be more fan friendly next time out, to be sure. I think he did a good job last night, considering his opponent.
