Didn't know the Rigo/Ramos fight had been postponed. Was looking forward to that one to close out the year. Anyway, still a few question marks on Rigo in my opinion. Dude ain't getting any younger, he definitely needs to keep busy, that's for sure.
Rigondeaux does not have good skills the guy has super great skills love watching him fight his hand speed is super quick and on the button.
I liked hurtado a lot too, he couldve at least made a lot of money if he wouldve hold on vs whitaker but he couldnt :hat
Hurtado was a beast. I had the pleasure of knowing him and seeing him in training many times back in the late 90's. Hurtado was/is a super nice guy and a great boxer/puncher who ran into a couple of bad outcomes in his career. Hurtado was giving Whitaker a Cuban boxing lesson, knocked him down 3 times but tired at the end, got caught with a straight left against the ropes and couldn't recover. Hurtado was almost killed that night because of that wicked ref that wanted to see Whitaker KO him into submission. :twisted: Either way, even with the loss ( was putting whitaker to shame ), Hurtado's stock rose rapidly. Then with just 2 weeks notice he stepped in against a prime Kostya Tszyu for the Title. Hurtado managed to put Tszyu 2 times on the canvas on the first round but then Tszyu caught him with a devastating body punch in the 5th and stopped him. :-( Then Hurtado fought the hard hitting Randall Bailey for the WBA World Title in Puerto Rico. What a match! Hurtado caught Bailey against the ropes and dropped him, then Bailey caught Hurtado with a wicked punch to his ear and made Hurtado take a knee count. But then on the 7th, Hurtado released a vicious body attack that hurt Bailey bad enough that he couldn't continue, Hurtado was finally the new WBA Champion! :happy But his reign came to an end fast when Hurtado couldn't defend his Crown against hard puncher Vivian Harris stopping him early. Still, Hurtado fought very tough and Elite level fighters like Whitaker, Tszyu, Bailey and others and showed that he was an Elite fighter. Casamayor and JC Gomez were the best of the Cuban defectors but Hurtado was closely behind. Recently he tried to make a comeback but he wasn't even fighting at a 50% of what he had. Currently he lives in Spain, and last fought on 6/3/11 but most probably will not fight again. He doesn't need it as he is an absolute master at counter punching, body punching and defense. Rigo's ring IQ is immense, he was the " Mayweather " of the amateurs for his entire career.
i think his amateur career surpassed mayweather's actually. he was more like the ali or sugar ray robinson of amatuers. i hear you he is great, and has big expectation to live up to, but every fighter has a flaw, and his is the way he utilizes the right hand in the ring!
Oh yeah, he was much better than May in the ams! If Rigo would have fought May ( supposing they were the same weight ) Rigo would have easily beaten him, no contest!
