And Rigo doesn't have the output or in-fighting of Whitaker, both of which were phenomenal in his prime. He didn't have the natural attribute of power, but his actual offensive arsenal is about as complete as it gets. I actually enjoy the welterweight version as well when he started to lose his foot speed and fought more often in the pocket. He'd stand right in front of you and make you miss with his head and upper body movement while creating some of the most unconventional angles imaginable from which to throw and land counters. You can't teach a lot of the nonsense he got away with. His jab is probably the best in the history of the lightweight division as well though, unless someone can prove Benny Leonard's to be. I'd give Rigo footwork though. That's some otherworldly ****.
Fact: each time Rigo and ND got into a heated exchange Rigo always got the last and best punch scored. If Ho-Nito can't catch a man trapped inside a boxing ring in which ropes do not allow him to escape then he does not deserve to be called, "The Filipino Flash." I know your type. According to your kind if your man gets outboxed, his opponent is a runner. If he gets KOed, his opponent is on steroids. Rigo is my favorite boxer ever.. I believe that he is something that we never seen before..how.somebody say I will love to see him perform against another style..
I think Rigo would succeed at dropping the work rate of some of the most busy, educated pressure fighters you could throw him in with. His timing is irate, and he throws unforgiving, punishing bombs for counters. Who the hell is going to consistently be able to cut the ring off on him?
its pretty obvious whitaker was his fav fighter.. its also clear that he knows his sweet science rigo is a beast!
I'm cool with that. Definitely more 'technically sound' though you could say the same about the likes of Floyd and Rigondeaux. Whitaker was perfect is a lot areas, and very unorthodox in others.
He dominated Marroquin, he got stunned twice but Marroquin is a massive fighter with legit power in his left. He lost his focus and got stunned, he didn't go down and he dominated every other second against a very good fighter. Cordoba was his first time going 12, Rigo dominated the first half and apart from the off balance knockdown Cordoba got very little work in. The only reason why it was a close fight is because Rigo got on his bike. He looked spectacular in both fights, just lapses in concentration at times. Same Rigo as against Donaire, the only difference is that against Donaire Rigo knew it was the big stage and was switched on for every second of the fight.

Well it's easy to say that now... Those comparisons by The Ring were made before he ever won a world title I'm pretty sure. ? Possibly, but I dunno if 2 wins get you in the HOF. And what about these catchweights? What? X 2
