i disagree with quite a few of ring magazines selections 1977 muhammad-johnson 1978 holmes-norton 1980 duran-leonard 1 1986 hagler-mugabi,holyfield-qawi or chavez-rosario 1991 eubank-watson 2 1995 benn-mcclellan 1996 bowe-golotta 2 1997 hamed-kelley 2000 trinidad-vargas 2004 pacquiao-marquez and these are just from the top of my head
I agree with you man (its becoming a pattern, ive noticed), but to ring's credit, they do mention that there were probably other fights that shouldve won, but sometimes the gravity of the fight makes it higher ranked than it should be. Also, its sad Trinidad, with all the exciting fights hes been in, never got fight of the year.
Well, Trinidad was an entertaining fighter, but it's not like he was involved in a lot of great, two-way action fights over the years. He was more of an entertaining powerful puncher, but before 2000, nothing was FOTY type material. He had two entertaining fights in 1994 against Campas and Carr, but those probably weren't even the best fights of those PPV cards. It wasn't until 2000 when he was involved in some really good two-way fights. The Vargas fight is probably my most watched fight ever, but Barrera-Morales I was more consistent in its action. The Reid fight was very good too. And in 2004, the Mayorga fight was very entertaining, but a little too one-sided to be considered for FOTY. I usually think Fights of the Year should be more competitive.
