Man Don ruled the 90s....the Whitaker/Chavez decision, Chavez/Taylor 1, Delahoya/Trinidad, Holyfield/Lewis 1 The dude had some pull.
Dude, you have no idea. His pull probably benefited me. I was fighting for a future, for the love of the game. It's amazing how fast you lose sight of yourself. And I maintain that you need to box for the live audience. If Whitaker wanted a decision, he should have punched. Not many people in that crowd close to the ring thought it was even close.
I can see that. Whitaker's D was on point but Oscar was forcing the fight the whole time and landing the harder stuff. I've always had that fight for Oscar, close but clear.
What do you think of Joe Cortez's idea of judges up above the ring to judge fights, sort of similiar to a tennis judge being up higher than the action. In amateur action when they did tests comparing this apparently the higher judges scored much more in synch with each other and were more consistently accurate.
As a matter of accurate scoring, I think it's a great idea, but it would hurt spectators if you didn't sink the ring into the ground a bit. Bunch of lifeguard chairs ringside is going to ruin the good seats for a lot of people.
Don screwed over so many people in such a hard fashion that he's probably even 2nd hand screwed people over.
