3 part documentary wouldn't be a bad idea. It would bring a bit of interest towards boxing and it would be good to watch a build up to a fight. What they put themselves through. At 38 years old I won't expect much.
The only advantages he has over an opponent are time (he has plenty of it to train) and resources- that's it. He apparently is targeting an area title which is possible but he's 38 has absolutely no previous boxing experience so even that seems an uphill task.
Cruiserweight apparently. I was under the impression he had dodgy knees though, so he might struggle with the daily roadwork.
Thing is ~there's loads of white collar shows he could go on and box every week if he wants to get some demons out of his system. Why should he be given a pro license at 38 with zero amateur experience?
This is clearly a vanity project, although put him in with some of Wilders opponents and he might get a few wins!
Got to be. People who don't know boxing will look at the W/L column on his record, assume he isn't any good and that it's a feasible fight. But someone like Darnell Boone would badly hurt someone like Rio Ferdinand.
This was my initial thoughts as well. Just a big PR explosion with Betfair being involved as well. Never a fan of this sort of thing but at the end of the day its his choice and he can do what he wants, good luck to him.
I can understand if he was to start off on small hall shows but he will be given opportunitys that most pro boxers never get. The way things have been wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if it ends of PPV or he's fed a few Eastern Europeans then a fight for an area or English title is PPV.
I want to fight Rio Ferdinand. I haven't boxed properly in a while but I reckon I would smash him. I'm 5'10" would fight him at any weight he wants, currently about 83kg.
