I dont get these two points at all. Maidana's boxing ability? Is he not just a plodder with good power, as shown when a shot to **** Morales almost beat him?

And he doesnt have the power at LWW? He has never fought at 140. So im not sure where u get that from.

This kid is quickly turning into one of my current favorites. About as exciting and action-packed fighter as there is ATM. Still, he should stay WAY the **** away from Victor Ortiz. Ortiz would **** him, and early at that.

Rios vs Antillon was Fight of the Year imo....

the odd thing, the crowd was booing on both fighters before the fight - WTF?!?!?
Now they feel stupid for booing two mexican pressure fighters....

I agree. His punches are short, sharp, and on target. His defense is pretty underrated as he blocks plenty of punches with his elbows and gloves. He also works behind a pretty heavy jab.

Ive said that from that gate.. I dont know where that limited slugger stuff comes from, he does little suttle things that people dont catch (like Chavez did).. .. Since he beat up Peterson ive been saying that he reminds me of a poor mans chavez.. His crisp punches, accuracy and the way he sets up shots,.. Like Chavez good power, and very good chin, and he dont seem to get discouraged only stronger... And thats a compliment to call him a poor mans Chavez.. Rios is only gonna improve.

Chavez is still underrated by some because he wasnt flashy, had underrated defense, deceiving speed ... In time people will recognize that Rios is more than just a hard punching ,tough guy..

His success will largely depend on the style of the opponents. Take Miguel Vazquez, he's getting better and better vs. these hard punching come forward guys, IMO he already takes Rios. Guerrero likely as well although I'm not sold on him just yet, I mean I saw the Casamayor, Jordan and Salido fights too not just Katsidis. Marquez would be interesting but that one won't happen so outside these guys Rios can pretty much take 135. 140 is a different animal though.

He's 5'9" just like Ortiz and needs to move up and stop bullying people at 135. The gold mine is at 140-147.

I'm curious to see how his chin will hold up at 140 because I'm suspecting it will test well and this dude would be a major player at JWW.

If he can make it and is effective hes not bullying..Hes just that much stronger.. I say he should clean up lW untill hes ready, hell be that much more experienced for the top dogs at JW and will be able to carry his power and chin up more effectively...Never agreed with some fans ot giving full credit to big Lw like Mosley,ODLH.. They had to make weight like everyone else.. IT will serve him better to buy another year and experience at LW.. Also buisness at JW should be finished as to who is the top dog there... Hes not as fast as guys like ODLH,MOSLEY,WHittaker,Mayweather,Pac or Duran ,,Who could fall back on there speed,or slickness... He is gonna have to make the jump a little slower...
