In reality the only way is if Rios completley under estimates him and doesn't train, struggles to make weight in the last few weeks and you get him at 70-80%. Still even then Kevin would need to bring something he has never done before.

Personally I don't think its as much of a whitewash as other beleive. Kevins getting under rated but your quite right he is not in Rios class.

He might just see this as far as Mitchell is gonna go. He's got newer prospects to spend time on and Mitchell should have made it by now if he was going to make it at all. And then there's the baggage outside of the ring too. If the money's decent, I don't think it's that uncharacteristic of ****** to feed someone to the wolves.

At the end of the day whatever plan somebody comes up with you`ll dismiss it anyway right? So lets turn it , Your Mitchells Coach , What plan would you make up even against all the odds(and dont say i wouldnt put him in in the first place) What are Mitchells best skills? and what are Rios weaknesses ?work from there...........Its like your a lawyer you have to make a case for your client even though all the odds are stacked against you.
And remember a bad plan is better than no plan at all, a phrase i learnt from playing Chess for many years.

Its just not a fight that Kevin can win im sorry but I believe that Kevin has now reached his level. Sadly there are some good world level operators at 135 and the gap between Euro and world is just too big to traverse. He will eventually step up at some point and I hope its for a world title with a great purse attached but he will get stopped. Depending on which titlist he fights depends on how many round he might get but thats about it.

From what I've read, he seems to be getting rated about right.

Rios seems very highly rated on this forum.

    Marquez v Rios

    Who takes it and how?

I don't think he gets blown out which seems the general concencious.

I think the idea that Mitchell is to small for the weight is out the window as he has built into it, and I think he has the power to get Rios respect which is why Rios will not steamroll him.

Rios 6/7 would be my feeling and it will be competative. Kev will have his moments Rios isnt Mayweather.

Judging with how JMM dealt with similar come-forward fighter in Juan Diaz and Katsid, I'd say JMM late.

Both Diaz and Kats had him in trouble early, so I imagine Rios would as well. Going from past performances, Marquez has insane recuperative powers; assuming his body is still up to it, he'll either get Rios out of there late or, if the lads chin holds up, win a competitive battle on points that has FOTY all over it.

Again, it's not really rating Rios, it's just not allowing patriotism to blond the fact that Kev is decent Euro level and nothing more.

Acosta barely got his respect. It's not a case of Mitchell being small, Rios is a BIG 135lber.

So Marquez would be a slight favourite now but in 6/12 months its unlikely to see Marquez come through an early onslaught from a strong, young pressure fighter? Especially after a Pac fight...

It's worth noting that both Diaz and Katsidis put forward career best showings against Marquez, and were still taken out in the late rounds.

Other than the KD in the 3rd round Marquez dominated, he was outfighting Katsidis both on the inside and outside, popping him with those long right hands and left uppercuts.

Rios is a talented young kid and obviously has a size advantage, as well as being considerably fresher, but it's not a fight I like for him at all. Marquez TKO12.

Rios is one of those guys that don't seem to defined though... It's weird cos guys that are 'big' at a weight are normally ripped to the max
