I'm not sure that's true though, Gaz. Fair enough if you think it was misplaced, maybe it was, but in the same way I don't feel bad when rapists die, I'm not going to shed too many tears when Bert Sugar, who at the very least committed "date ****", does. Sorry if anyone thinks it's offensive. My feelings on his journalism don't really come into it. He's a decent writer, nothing remarkable besides wearing a very fine hat. If he was just nailing 18-year old graduates, then yeah it's a bit dubious, but whatever. When you get them so smashed they don't know what's happening and finger them during the taxi ride home, I think it's gone beyond dubious.
he was only 74 ****, i thought he was well into his 80's, the cancer really ****ed him up didnt it, poor fella RIP Bert, a true legend of the sport
Ive got some ****ed up image of dftaylor driving bert sugar around in a new york taxi while he fingers a passed out 18 year old.
That's a pretty well known story. Chris Jones writes about Sugar's worrying behaviour in his book Falling Hard. Ron Borges mentioned it in a column a few years back. I'm pretty sure Dan Rafael mentioned about it a few years back, in between slating him for fabricating quotes and sources.
