Roger was a good boxer when he wanted to be...But, in terms of style, somewhat opposed to FMJ. Could be hurt early, but could just as easily take you out with a laser like right hand. That made every fight of his compelling viewing.

As a trainer, he did a great job of refining Floyd and molding him into the boxer he became. Clearly, he KSAB, and about coining legendary ESB catch=phrases (YDSAB made the rounds a few years ago and still gets used quite frequently).

RIP Mamba. Thanks for the memories.

Absolutely devastated. I will always remember him as a great champ, Chavez adversary, and it was because of him that got on Floyd's bandwagon early.

    RIP.

Roger was really good at keeping tabs on a fighter's reactions to what was going on against Floyd. Mayweather was more authoritve against opponents under Roger's watch IMO.

    A real sad situation.

RIP Champ and thank you for one of the best saying in boxing, " You don't know S**t about boxing"!

Yeesh very sad. His interactions with Cornelius Boza-Edward in the 24/7 before Floyd fought Victor Ortiz were really cool in an understated sort of way. It was so cool as a fan to watch too former champions, two unbelievably deadly fighters, eating lunch together.

Unfortunately those scenes presaged what was to come. At the end of one scene Roger, even then diabetic, poured himself a large cup of soda from the restaurant soda machine, 'even though I know I shouldn't....aw well, you only live once'

It was a pretty open secret that Roger was in dire health the last four years. It was well known that he wasn't taking care of himself, and he was becoming less and less lucid mentally.
