It's not so much the combos I'm impressed by, it's his timing, and he's got some of his rhythm back. His legs look way fresher here than they did against Hanshaw.
i just watched the fight, man that was like watching prime roy all over it again.you will never witness that again by roy.lacy was perfect for that ass whooping.damn i did think it was gone be some what tuff for roy.jeff needs to reite hes not even a gate keeper.
Roys handspeed is there, but his legs are gone. He has to plant himself now to throw in combination. He isnt heavy on his feet, but he doesnt bounce on his toes like he used to. Nice victory, but Lacy really looked terrible as well. I dont really think this is an accurate barometer of what Roy has left to offer the 175 division.
ROy looked good in their but keep in mind this is Jeff Lacy. But i still think Roy could beat other top guys in LH like Zsolt Erdei or Adrian Diaconu... Those are top opponents and winnable fights for Roy.
Lacy seems to not have the fire anymore. Before Joe he had alot of confidence, seems like he's not into it anymore and is rather timid, he used to be really agressive, now he's passive in the ring. Unless he can regain his fire he should retire.
Jeff has the fire alright. But the guy has no idea on "how" to fight. When he gets hit with a brick he still walks forward. When he gets hit multiple times he still waks forward. He reminds me alot of Ricky Hatton. Both guys are mental midgets in the ring and both guys think they can simply walk forward and outmuscle their opponents. Lacy does NOTHING off the jab. He does NOTHING with the jab. He does NOTHING when he does get inside. He loads up on every punch and his punches can be seen from the hills everytime he throws them. Jeff is just soooo badly flawed its not funny. Id honestly prefer him to retire or go back to the club circuit and learn to box.
well, its easier to look explosive against Robin R. when u dont have 12 hook combinations coming at your body and head.
