Who was the greater boxer? Both have similarities and differences. Jones dominated the middle divisions for a decade with typically a defensive low risk approach wheras Chavez dominated the lower divisons with a completly offensive style, damaging a opponent each rounds with his relentless pressure and body punching. Resume wise i would give Roy the edge but, to my knowladge, Chavez never ducked anyone where there are clearly fighters Roy didn't face.

They're on the same level imo. I think both could be argued over the other without much difficulty, I generally have Jones higher though.
For me it's Jones, both pound-for-pound and in terms of ability. Not a huge gap between them, but Jones has the edge IMO.
One could say he fought Hopkins and Toney instead. One could say Chavez never fought Nelson or McGirt. But your point is fair enough.
If I was to select 4 fighters from this era(past 15 years) to fight in a battle in a P4P battle against great fighters of other Eras....Jones would be one of the top guys on the list, Chavez wouldnt.....(Mayweather, Pacman, hopkins, toney being the others)
Sure, but i wouldn't say either qualifies as "clearly" being ducked. When Jones became champion at SMW, both of Eubank were far past their best. I would've liked those bouts, don't get me wrong, but they would probably be labeled the same way the McCallum bout is.
Why this myth about Eubank as a great? He barely scraped past some pretty moderate boxers,a lot of his fights were dull and anytime he fought someone decent he was beaten. The only good results he had was when he beat Rocchigiani and drew with Nigel Benn. Check hisfight stats, they're nothing special.:nono
why didnt eubank and benn face Toney? Benn lost Malinga after Jones beat Toney.... Eubank lost to Collins who lost to Reggie Johnson....who Jones beat
Jones ducked so many guys yet in my mind probably Jones. I am not sure. I do know that Jones outclassed Toney in a way that Chavez would not of -in a p4p comparison.
