Actually he knows boxing pretty well...

But he hates Roy with a passion, and can't be taken serious when it comes to him. Though I am very guilty of arguing with him. Its all in good fun.

The point is GGG has said he wants to be THE Middleweight champion and wants to accomplish that first. That is more than Jones did at 160. Additionally, if he moved up and beat Ward he would be THE Super Middleweight champion which again Jones never was. That is what I am talking about. That would trump what Jones did in those 2 weight classes it really can't be debated.

He is still at Middleweight and plans to stay there for a while to accomplish accolades. Lets see where he is in another year. I am betting he will be THE middleweight champion by then.

This era of Middleweights is laughable.

So GGG is a harder p4p puncher than the likes of James Toney

Boy I love GGG but he gets extremely overrated here !

No worse than the Light Heavyweight Division Roy was in and he refused to fight the #1 fighter and real champion of the Division.

speed would be a major factor in this fight, RJJ KOs him late or wins by wide UD

i'm not doubting his ability (there's a recent thread where golovkin has been touted as better than the fab 4), but i'm saying that the likes of macklin and geale won't elevate him to the lofty heights that the hype train will take him directly after another win

do you remember the threads in the first week after cotto beat Martinez?
a LOT of people voted him an ATG - it just shows how fickle people can be when their emotion is riding high

golovkin is only in the mix with fantasy matchups now because hes doing great things to second tier opposition, not because he has earnt it

I keep remembering a guy called zab Judah who EVERYBODY thought was the next big thing - including all the HOF/ATG fighters who walked to the ring with him against tszyu
one thing that should teach us is that looking great without having fought anybody means you're only one fight away (potentially) from being forgotten
I don't think that will happen for two reasons :

    1. golovkin is a mature fighter. Judah was a spoilt hothead and immature

    2. I can't see anyone at MW stealing golovkin's thunder

but it's crazy to compare golovkin to roy jones, even if you do enjoy sizing up jones fans :good
